I'm new to photoshop. I have Photoshop Elements 5.0 and before I was using Paint Shop Pro (the latest version). I'm looking for some direction on my editing. I think I'm ok but just looking for some advise on when I need to pay attention to and so forth. Any help would be great!!!

Looks like you took care of the main issues with the original - bright spots on the face, minor blemishes, etc. Color could be muted a bit in the editd version though (a little bit of unsat). Could try and blur or somehow get rid of distracting background. Definitely an improved image though.

do some spot healing to get rid of the spots on the cheeks
and also the lines in the neck and do the forehead ans put a gaussian blur behind her

It looks like you did a pretty good job on the editing. I'd maybe think about darkening down the silver and red thing in the background to more like the level it was in the original. I'm no expert with Photoshop, I just make it up as I go along, so I wont offer any tips on how to do it. Overall I think you made a great improvement to the picture.

Oh... sorry...

You both did a good job. Buckeye_fan made a superb job of dealing with the reflections on the skin. I prefer the way you, Jib, have left the background toned down though I think you needed to work a little more on the facial reflections.

#2 for your try was pretty good. If you really wanted to get nit-picky, the few stray hairs could be cloned out.

Your second edit is much better Jib. As you said, sometimes it is knowing when to stop!

Buckeye was just "bumping" the message back to the top of the recently posted list in the hope someone would see it and help out.
