so i got my business cards in the mail today and i was pretty excited. open up to first find a thing saying i didn't have the right sizes! even though i triple checked that i had the rgith size including bleed! so i pulled them out and the cut was a bit off but that was fine. but the black is almost a dark grey that looks really dirty and speckly. and all the text has speckles as well.
:( should i return them and just pay extra for a local shop? |

my husband got his business cards from Mpix last week and was quite satisfied with them. I ordered a couple of 16x24 prints from them yesterday and the were shipped today. I'm anxious to see how well they turned out. |

I've never done business cards with them, but I have ordered a lot of prints on their metallic paper, and have always been very impressed! The colors are amazing and I've never had issues with blacks not being black.
I'd get in touch with them and see what they have to say about redoing them.

I've ordered some stuff from them...and it turned out well.
As far as business cards...nothing beats Kinko's...if they screw it up, you see it before you pay.
I think I ordered mine from Vista Prints or something...they turned out really good.

I just got mine printed on the fancy laser printer/copier at officemax, and card templates. They look alright, the blacks look good but they're not full bleed and stuff.
I have an idea for some better ones using a contact print on photographic paper and a couple 645 negatives sandwiched for the text and a background. |

for business cards, i recommend JakPrints.
printing is relatively cheap, you can do a lot of different-sized stuff, and they have a choice between coated and uncoated stock. plus you can have full-bleed 4 over 4 cards if you want.
i love mpix, but it's a totally different kind of printing. i'd leave the photos to the photo guys and the 4 color printing to the printing guys. ymmv. |

I've used VistaPrint as well. They have freebies and specials and you can downnload your photos. Some start off free (you pay only postage) and pay extra is you upgrade a service. |

Why not contact MPIX and give thwm a chance to correct their mistake? Most likely, you got a bad print run, which can happen anywhere. If it wew me, I would certainly have given thwm a chance to make it right before giving them a bad reference on a heavily trafficked public forum.

Terry must be typing on his phone again. :)
I agree with what he's said about giving them a chance to correct it, though. |

I had the same thing happen to me. I took it to one of my professors and he said it's how they print them. I tried for days to contact mpix with no result, so I gave up. I guess you get what you pay for. I took mine to a local printer, and he has well for me.

I just got my 2nd reprint of Business Cards from MPix and they are good. The 1st batch was perfect, except for the black lettering under my business name. The letters looked like they were offset when printing the blue red green (to make black) They were fuzzy. I emailed MPix and they responded very quickly and reprinted and now they are fine. The black letters, however, are not pure black. The edges do look fuzzy.
Now I have an extra 500 cards because they don't want the 1st ones back, so they are good for sticking under windshield wipers or leaving at grocery stores.
