for a completely open challenge. I don't mean one with editing rules(but that's fine if they include them) I mean one where you can take a picture of anything. That way for one week we won't have to see "How I think this person misinterpreted the challenge" thread. I remember the members having one back in december. When was the last Open challenge for everybody?

Ok I looked through the challenge archives. I meant to say a Free Study Challenge. Anyway, the lat free study for regular members was a year ago and the last one for members was in december. I haven't submitted a photo in awhile because I haven't had any inspiration. I think if we had a free study it would allow us to wipe our minds blank and just take a photo of whatever we want. Anybody have an opinion?

I agree. I'm sick of threads about "shots with this or without that didn't meet the challenge." It's pretty narrow minded. I wonder what those people will do, though, when a free-study challenge appears - it will throw them all for a loop!

I think the "Starts with " pics are pretty much a free study. There are slight limitations, but I think the large majority of things are going to be available to photograph under one name or another. As long as it isn't "things that start with X or Q" we have a lot of freedom to pursue most photographic opportunities. The last one was a members challenge, but I expect that soon there will be an open challenge of the same variety.

That's what I think anyway. - Bob

I think it should be worst picture challenge - Take a terribly picture of a boring subject and please try to keep it out of focus the worst picture would get a 10 I think we would see higher scores in that challenge than in any other! ;)

LOL picking up my camera taking a photo of my little boys room and making sure I use manual focus....that might actually work for a scary challenge too.

Not really - looking through the comments made on the "B" challenge, even though people entered what they considered to be B pics, there were a lot of "didn't meet challenge" remarks.
So I'd really like to see a Free Study too.

actualy I was thinking this weekschallenge is kind of open...when all you have to do is take a picture of something round to make the challenge it leaves a lot of room....

If I didn't know better I'd swear this one was dumbed down to get away from the "did not mee challenge" of the week thread.

Now you've done it! You went and said take a picture of something round, when the challenge clearly states we should show roundness, not take a photo of something round. Sound silly? Wait and see how many "does not meet the challenge" comments there are this week.
I'd love an open challenge, although I suspect that we would then have a lot of complaints in the forums about cliché shots, and -Sigh- we'll have a lot of cliché entries to complain about in the forums.

I can see it now, a challenge with 300 entries, of which, 100 are pets, 100 are flowers, 80 are landscapes and or sunsets and the top 20 finishers are splashes.

LOL

actually the challenge is exactly "Show us roundness, however you want to express it."

To me that could be anything from more fireworks, more speedometers to a toilet bowl.

No!!!! No more speedometers! Please! If I have to vote on more of those I'll quit photography for good. At least fireworks have pretty colors.

Ps. Thanks for spoiling my toilet bowl idea ;)
