Yep...as long as you don't advertise another photo site under your photos!

Votobooth was unreal. 250 dollars when you win? With like 20 entries each time and anything goes rules and no fee to enter? Doesn't sound like a healthy bussiness plan.

Some have stated that this site is watched by magazines and people like that, they look for images to use and buy. So being on the front page could get you more than just a ribbon in the long run. |

dpchallenge has this intoxicating community and clean, attractive, trusted web-page altogether with a great group of people that like it enough to form challenge-related contests on their own (still just a GIF file as the prize :).
With monotary prizes you start to get a potential for something less inspiring and less trustworthy. I don't think DPC would be what it is if there was a monotary prize.
I did, however, win (and receive) 250$ on Votobooth and I still have a healthy distrust for them. Like "what is really going on with that?" ...
I also won a photo prize that I saw in "wired" magazine of all places - and it was real.
The thing is, in most cases you still need to pay 25% or so on the prizes because Lord knows the prize giver will use it as a deduction. Not that you shouldn't go for it, but what they value at 4000$ may really only be worth 2500$ in reality and you end up paying 1000 in taxes. Not to be a downer - it's still great to win a prize and make sure you post yours here when you do!!!! =)

Did you mean intoxicated? *hic* ;-)
I agree about the prizes - imagine the contention over DQ's and how much more impact the occasional "cheating" exposures would have.
Let's just keep it intoxicating(ed). |

You get all-access to the Club DPC Lounge: fully stocked bar... private Starbucks... Chef John Pierre cooking up some AMAZING dishes... the DNMC Bowling Alley... PS3, Xbox 360, and Nintendo Wii, all hooked up to it's own 60" plasma screen... and every year, Langdon invites all the ribbon winners over to his house for Thanksgiving dinner. These are just some of the perks. :-) |
