Slippy, you're selling yourself short! Some of the lawyers around here charge $450-$600 per hour (and thats US $). You're worth more than that!

Here's a letter from the arseholes at Cogeco. They don't even want to write that they made a mistake, they even have to boil that down to 'in error'. It isn't very satisfying to me, so I'm going to have to shop this around forever.
Only one last step remains, assuming Cogeco followed through and their collection agency also followed through. It's supposed to take about a month for it to show up as not there any more at the credit bureau, so I'll have to run another credit history later on to check up on them.
This all comes at a time when my wife's car is having troubles, and we're considering buying a new one. If her rating isn't fixed, I'll have to buy it (again) as my rating is insanely wonderful and causes immediate druling by salespeople. It would be nice to put it in my wife's name and build up her rating some more, especially in the event that I kick the bucket unexpectedly.
Now we all have to cram into my little compact (with the check-engine light on) for an eight hour drive, each way, to visit my brother.

We go past Joey Lawrence's place on our trip, so if we break down, my wife & kids can do some modelling for Joey in exchange from room & board. ;-)

Hey Slippy, sorry to change the subject of the thread, but is the check engine light something new? If so, try re-tightening your gas cap. Not tightening it all the way can cause a pressure difference in your tank and cause the light to go on. Happens to a lot of people.
If that doesn't work, you can get an OBDII computer pretty cheap now and it will give you a code and tell you what is wrong, and on some you can even clear the light. I cleared the check engine light on a Discovery I had just before I traded it in. ;-)
Have fun on your trip! |

Oh, it's been on & off a lot since I bought it new in 1997. I just ignore it. :-)
If the engine falls out, then I'll lease a new one, as it's mainly for business.

Have it put in her name with you as a co-signer. At least in the US that would use your credit to get the loan and the payment of the loan recorded on both of parties credit reports. That way her credit score goes up and the loan is at the better rate your good credit can get. :D
