I must say, I love April Fool's Day. I was also the liturgist at church this morning, and when it came time to do the readings, I announced to the congregation that instead of reading the scriptures that were posted in the bulletin, I was going to "share a poem that I wrote this morning."
After I said that, I gave a rather long, awkward pause... long enough to catch a glimpse of our pastor with a rather mortified look on his face (considering that his sermon is based on the scripture readings), and then announced it was an April Fool's joke.
How often do you get to pull a prank during a church service? |

The joke is on you, as you will burn in hell.
April Fools! :-)
Seriously, little is funnier than threatening people with reading your own poetry to them. The church service adds a whole new dimension to it. I believed you about Newsweek, too. Good ones!

I guess I could post a serious answer to a serious question (sorry for not doing so sooner!)...
First, I guess I should say that yes, I really did have a shot in a Chevy ad since I've probably shot my credibility all to hell here :)
That came about all by chance, really... I have that photo featured on my own web site, and the ad agency apparently simply found it by Googling. It does appear high on the list when searching for images of PNC Park (or at least it did last summer when this came about), and it was just what they were looking for.
Chevy used the ad in USA Today, Sports Illustrated, the All-Star Game program, and TV ads appearing on FOX and ESPN (the TV ads should be running again this year).
Leading up to the All-Star Game (which was held at PNC Park here in Pittsburgh last summer), that shot got tons of attention, simply by having it on my web site. Yet another group wanted to use it in a different ad in USA Today (thankfully I managed to sell them a different shot from a different vantage point in the park -- otherwise the same shot would have been used twice in the same issue of USA Today, and I'm sure the Chevy people wouldn't have been happy about it). It was definitely cool to have two different shots in USA Today on the same day!
I also got a call that week from one of our local TV stations. They called me at 5:00 a.m. to ask if they could use it as their weather backdrop that morning. The weather guy gave me credit on air, and mentioned the fact that he woke me at that hour to ask my permission!
So, long story short... God Bless Google! :)
EDIT: I just noticed that if you Google PNC Park Images, my shot actually comes up first now... woo hoo!

While I'm pimping real things...
I should have a few photos on a Weather Channel special later this month. Obviously this isn't quite the cover of Newsweek, but cool nonetheless.
I should have a few shots in their 100 Biggest Weather Moments show. The shots will be of Groundhog Day activities.

(If you live outside Pennsylvania and don'g get this, don't worry)
Alan,
I'm convinced that if Gus hired you as his publicist, he wouldn't be only the second most famous groundhog in Pennsylvania for long.
