Since score watching seems to be an exercise in futility today, why don't we share some of the best and worst April Fools Day pranks we've experienced? Whether you were the pranker, the prankee, or just a witness, whether it was good or terrible?

I'm trying to think of one to share, so someone else needs to start.

When I was little I made my dad a cup of salty tea and brought it to him in bed. Thats not it though...
He told me he had a new car! And I was like, "whatever, April Fool! I'm not as silly as you!"
He said, look out the window if you don't believe me!
"No way, you're not fooling me!"
He said, "c'mon Ben, humour me here..."
So I looked out the window and he did have one! My face after that... He was laughing for ages! lol

I didn't fall for it, but the 1996 Taco Liberty Bell hoax is a classic. Taco Bell ran full-page ads in 10 major newspapers, including the Philadelphia Inquirer and New York Times, announcing they had purchased the Liberty Bell in order to do their part to help reduce the national debt. They said it would "now be called the "Taco Liberty Bell" and will still be accessible to the American public for viewing."

Though I didn't see it at the time it came out, another classic for baseball fans is Sports Illustrated writer George Plimpton's The Curious Case of Sidd Finch. The actual article is online as well.

A few years ago I changed the front page of my website to make it look like it was hacked. I showed my partner Joe and he was flabbergasted (I was pretending to be all upset). His job is IT security so I really got him good!

My younger brother was born on April 1st. I remember one of his birthdays when he was probably 9 or 10 my sister and I wrapped up a HUGE box for his gift and put a note in the bottom saying "April Fools". He was so excited when he was opening that big box, wondering what could be in it. I can't believe Mom let my sister and me actually do it, looking back on it I think that was pretty mean.

I don't participate in many pranks on either end, but I once had a book which was nothing but stories of storied practical jokes.

Three of my favorites:

A proper-looking guy approaches someone on the sidewalk with a line "We're doing some survey work for the city -- would you mind helping for a moment by holding the end of this string?" and hands them the end of a ball of string. He proceeds to walk around the corner, unwinding the string as he goes, until he's out of sight of the first person, at which point he approaches another person with the same story. When the second person takes the other end of the string, he leaves.

Some guys rent jumpsuits, jackhammers, sawhorses, etc., and set up on a New York City street, where proceed to chop out a piece of asphalt and dig a small hole. No one questions who they are or why they are digging up the street. At day's end, they pack up and leave.

A wealthy eccentric states in his will that upon his death, a specified sealed box -- containing his "most prized possessions" -- is to be placed upon a large pyre at his lakeside estate and burned. The box is full of fireworks.

Several years back...I lived on the upper eastside of Milwaukee. Anyone that knows that area, knows how bad parking is. Anyone who lived there knows...you probably had a glove box full of parking tickets. On April Fool's day, a popular local radio DJ announced that for one day only the City of Milwaukee was forgiving parking tickets to anyone that came down to city hall and presented their tickets. Just completely wiping the slate clean! Well...apparently, the whole of Milwaukee showed up causing huge traffic jams downtown...and I'm sure more parking tickets!!

Wooo hooo, I just had my family going for the last three hours (until I finally told them).

I printed out an "email" that I had just "received" - telling me I won a competition which put a photo of my daughter on a museum wall for the next three weeks (I copied the email in the notes under the photo if you want to read it).

They were sooooooo excited LOL LOL LOL

Now you might suggest this to that museum ... if they don't already sponsor such a contest perhaps they should. Then, next year ... ; )

My one and only story is more of a cautionary tale for the boys:

The love of my life had just broken up with me and had immediately started dating another girl. They thought it would be funny for her to start freaking out about a pregnancy scare for April Fools. I caught wind of it and got really upset. Ex-boyfriend had to explain to me that the reason it was funny was because New Girlfriend was a very Catholic virgin-until-married type. I barely restrained myself from punching him in the face.

So boys, if your ex-girlfriend is likely to take up arms against you if she hears about your 4/1 prank, it's probably best to let the idea go lest you see the inside of an emergency room.
