Okay, I've dealt with Adorama in the past and have been quite pleased with their service. For example, back in December, a mix up in a delivery had caused an order for $75 worth of prints to be *returned* to Adorama. When I called, they reprinted and re-shipped the entire order over night so that my bride could have her prints in time for her wedding.
Well, today I had another experience with them. Yesterday I placed an order for about $600 worth of equipment and paid an extra $65 to have it delivered by tomorrow (Friday). When I received an email from them stating that some of the items were out of stock, I quickly called them back and asked if there was anything else (comparable equipment) that they had in stock because I really needed it for this weekend.
As of last night, they had managed (in two separate orders, probably coming from separate warehouses) to ship all but one of the pieces, and they are due to arrive tomorrow.
But one of the guys called me this afternoon and apologized profusely stating that he had tried everything to get the final piece for me. I told him it was okay, I could really use it, but that the items that they did manage to ship were the "essential ones" that I needed for this weekend and I could get by without the final item. And that was the truth, I had planned to use it ... but was already planning in my own mind how I would shoot things differently without it.
So... tonight I get an email from Adorama stating that the final piece had shipped and that they had over-nighted it to me. It, too, will be here tomorrow.
I dunno about you, but to me, this is above and beyond the call of duty and deserves to be recognized. Not only for their diligence in fulfilling the order in a timely fashion. But also because, at their expense, they overnighted the final piece of the equipment, just to make sure I would have it in time for my shoot on Saturday.
