This is only wednesday, and I am my 38th hour of work. Not continuous. This day is way from over.
This is the first show that I have worked on where the director is truly an idiot.
woooops have to go. Be right back for more gossip on set.

I have it on good authority that he is working on the season premier of an upcoming reality show about Sanjaya Malakar. But don't say you heard it from me. |

Now how could anybody screw up the directing on that one? Sanjaya, you stand there. Done. |

The reasons why this Director is more of an idiot tan the rest from over the years.
Top 10 reasons.
#10= He speaks to us in French. I don't understand English, how in the hell am I to understand French?
#9= He does steady cam while he Directs. This results into a minimum of 20 takes.
#8= He swears in French.
#7= Production rents for $65,000 per day a $40,000,000 house. This house has a absolute fantastic view of downtown LA and the Wilshire area. A wow factor. This Director did not get the view during the scene.
A waste of money.

#6= He operates "A" camera while Diecting. This results into 20 takes.
#5= After last weeks 80 hour work week. The Director did not have the courtesy to thank the crew for his idiot-ism.
#4= He is arrogant both in perfect French and bad English.

I don't know, #8 sounds like a potential benefit to me -- my knowledge of French profanity is quite limited. Of course, that's only if he's swearing at someone else .... |

I think you should swear at him in Russian. |

Better yet, compliment him in Russian, but use the vocal intonation you would if you were swearing ... instead of "you sonofabitch" say "you master of cinema" (in Russian, or whatever) with the same tone as the former phrase -- he'll have more trouble firing you for that : ) |

You do know that your director is an active DPC member and will probably read this, don't you?
.
.
(just joking--how the hell would I know who s/he is?!) LOL!

#3= This Director had an idea, NO, a vision today.
He wanted to pick up a scene that was earlier rescheduled.
Today is the last day of principle photogaphy in LA.
He insisted on finding a location in Santa Monica. Near the beach somwhere. A notoriopus area where film crews are not welcome, rent is expensive, and laws are strict.
Usually, or I should say, ALWAYS, the locations are a done deal way in advance. Weeks before any camera actually shows up.
To demand to get this location at the last minute on the last day of shooting is at the least disrespectful to the crew, and at the most very amateurish.

Could've been worse -- what if he'd said Malibu, or Big Sur! |

Did I mention that I am on my Q writing the posts?
#2= He picked his nose during rehersals one day.
All I have to say about that is I am glad I am not in the camera department.
Imagine putting the camera gear away and comming across a piece of green French booger on a slate or len box or something?

And the number one reason why this Director is an idiot.
(Drum roll)
#1= He tries to direct the actors, both in English and in French, shouting over their dialog. Then, turning to the crew in between takes, saying stuff like "Let's give the actors some room to be creative" (in a thick English/French accent).
Because of his idiot-ism's I came home with some nice paychecks, and lack of sleep.
