There is some priceless information in the Tutorials section of this site if no one has ventured there :)

Well, it looks like i need to also introduce myself!
Hi there, my name is Kari. You can call me Kari, most of my friends do. Im 15 years old, and was born and raised in Payson, UT. But when I was 10, me and my family moved a town over to Santaquin! At the age of 7 I used to buy those disposible cameras and shoot with my friends, and finally last christmas, i got a Real bonafied camera that i had been drooling over for the last 3 months. :D Now im saving up for a Canon Rebel. No children, no boyfriend, ah life seems grand! Im a free bird..

Anyways, as for challenges, im tossing and turning between Spin and Still, i have pictures for both, i just have to choose. I also submitted to the Free Study.

Proud to be a part of this lovely team. Gooo Team Noob!

Homework is done (hallelujah chorus), so I can now introduce myself...!
My name is Leisha. I'm 18, and I live near Ogden, Utah. I'm going to college full time right now - majoring in Athletic Training and minoring in Photography. I'm also working as a tutor for a local junior high school. Anyways....I can tell this is going to be a fun group! I'm looking forward to getting to know you all better. (I can say this now, but hopefully I don't regret it!) ;)

You guys all rock... as for tutorials - I umm... acquired... *cough ... most of the lynda.com tutorials on photoshop - they are FANTASTIC! I mean 8 + hours each! Nothin spells fun like 4 hours of mask selection tools with Deke Mclelland. I watched most of them, just can't do what they do yet.

BTW.... if you didn't read the other topic on scores... I POSTED TO THE WRONG CHALLENGE! HAHA.... I am such a dipshit...

Hi everyone,

My name is Arnon and I live in Bangkok, Thailand. I graduated from an art college in Savannah,GA in 1996. I took up photography a couple of months after my daughter was born in 2005. Mostly I have been taking pictures of my family until I found DPC last month. And now photography has taken most of my time (at least in my mind - to think of what to shoot). Very difficult for me to juggle time between work, family, and my new hobby. I can't believe it's only been 1 1/2 month since I joined DPC, It seems longer. Glad I could join Team Noob. :)

I guess I can't say anything - I havent had a challenge entry above 6 yet - and all I shoot is RAW - but the white balance is just so EASY and non-destructive.

So nice that you are all so chatty :) I just love it :) We are gonna get along JUST fine!!!

As far as JPEG is concerned, I realize the issues with colour and white balance but I figure if I can get it right going in with JPEG, when I do start shooting RAW, (nothing to do with my memory cards btw hehe) I will be unstoppable ;)

I also have a couple of tutorials that I would be willing to e-mail out... nothing big or fancy though, just basics. They have helped me a LOT :)

Lemme know if you want em cause I don't wanna just be sending out unwanted e-mails and stuff.

Have a great day today!! I am off to Fall Creek Falls :)

I prefer "talkative" chatty makes me feel like a 13 year old girl on her cell phone talking about the guy she likes and oh how she can't believe Britney Spears shaved her head and is in rehab - thats sooo cool.

So I have a question you noobers might be able to help me with, I was reading a post about someone whose picture was disqualified & I've read & re-read the rules many times, but I wanted to make sure, for the advanced editing, free study, I want to submit a picture where I have blurred out the background to make the images up front stand out, is this allowed?
03/28/2007 02:39:56 PM · #70
I think that is fine to do...I looked at the advanced rules and the important line was you may "apply filters, effects, dodge & burn, and other tools to all or part of your entry, but NO new shapes or features may be created in the process". So your effect would be blur, and as long as you didn't make any new shapes or features it should be legal.... Any other comments? I'm not a rules expert, but that is how I see it. :)

Thanks, that's how I read it too, I was just 2nd guessing myself & didn't want a DQ.

Hello all-

I have a crazy creative inkling. You know how all of the teams have the little pictures for each member with a little page representing them?? Well I want to make one. If you guys support this idea, choose the picture you want to represent you and name it as "NOOB" on your portfolio so I know which one you want. What else could we put on the picture? Other teams put amount of ribbons and average score, but I'm not sure if I want "0 Ribbons" and "3.5 Average Score" as my introduction (haha). Give me your ideas/opinions. Like it or not?
03/28/2007 02:57:01 PM · #74
can you send me a link of an example,im not following(havent seen these pages yet i reckon, lol)
03/28/2007 02:59:39 PM · #75
Check out xxxscarletxxx's profile. I know she has them. It's a series of little pictures next to each other with each picture taking you to a link of a larger image and a small blurb about the team member. They are right above the "add this photographer to your favorites" link. Let me know if you find it. :)
