When I met DPCers I was called Ben, but when I went to a LAN party a few years ago for my Counter-Strike clan everyone called me Kon. People who I know at uni who have my email address think Konador is my surname.

If you hear Konandor.... run! ;)
I like first names, even here. I remember screen names, but associate them in my head with the proper first name. Used to drive my fellow gamers crazy because of that.

I tend to think of people in my mind as whatever they call themselves in general. If they, and people referring to them, always use their real name instead of their screen name, then I would too (Leroy for example). If they have a really long name, I'll think of them as a bit of it - I_Enjoy_Ham becomes Ham, thegrandwazoo becomes wazoo, mk becomes m, etc. If they have random letters or numbers, I'll ignore them, so xXxscarletxXx becomes Scarlet, Spazmo99 becomes Spazmo, rose8699 becomes Damien, you get the picture. I think that covers everything? Oh, if someone's username is first initial followed by surname or vice versa, I'll think of it as one word if it makes grammatical sense :P

I shortened the quote for what applies.
In short I got my partner to join - she has no experience but loved my outings for challenges. I said last night "Idnic is hosting a daily portrait side challenge". She said "Idnic?" I said "yeah, someone's screen name, folks pop up and offer challenges aside from the regular ones".
She asked "who's an Idnic?" I said "NO! Idnic is a person who started a side competition." ...followed with "I see the nic a lot"
She says "your gonna play with Idnic, and you don't know who that is ...and you want me to PAY to be a member? ...and do the same?"
She looked at me like I had 3 heads! It was a funny little exchange at home - just wanted to share.
