I had lots of piercings when I was younger. 27 to be exact. I had my nostrils done a couple of times and my septum as well. the septum has never closed so it can be lots of fun. I have a pretty professional position at work so it is fun sometimes to surprise people by sticking a coat hanger through it and hanging my coat on it:) |

I had 4 piercing on my left ear in high school. Three on the lobe and one higher. That was pretty crazy back then. Then some people started getting their lip and eyebrows pierced, then tongues. Apparently the sky is the limit nowadays. So what happens to the ear lobes with holes that get stretched one or 2 inches? I suppose you can have plastic surgery later.

I stretched my earlobes to 1/2 inch and while they never closed they did shrink to a point that nobody ever mentions anything. anything over 1/2 can get tricky. I have known people that had to get plastic surgery to fix them.

I had my nipple and my tongue done, but both of them are gone now. Never really liked the tongue ring and the nipple always stayed sore, even after 2 years.

do any of you think its wierd that guys get their nose pierced? |
I pierced my nose back when I was 18 or 19. Did it myself with a safety pin. Took it out a couple years later because it seemed everyone was getting everything pierced. After I stopped keeping it open it only healed over on the inside. Now I have one large elongated pore on the outside as a reminder.
The first time I got a cold after piercing it, I took the stud out because it was catching snot on the inside. I was in the bathroom and felt a sneeze coming on. I grabbed some toilet paper, held it up to my nose, and blew. All the built up snot shot right out the piercing in an incredible arch. Quite an amazing site. |

Well, that answers one question I've always had about nose piercings.

i really don't mind that everyone has it. I like it and that's all that matters, thatd be like me returning a lens because "everyone has it".

Not in the least, made me laugh but I felt nothing. I tried a couple times after that to get it to shoot again but was never able to. |

Just about the best thing ever for helping heal up piercings and tattoos is Sudocrem. I don't know if the trade name is the same in America, but it's the cream used on baby's bottoms. It was recommended to me by someone who spent rather a long time in a burns unit after an accident. He swore by it. It seals, moisturises and promotes healing, being mildly antiseptic. My nipple ring had been weeping for about a year before I tried it. It then healed completely within two weeks. Another thing to consider is the use of soap. Washing, one normally imagines, promotes healing, but soap in the wound can cause it to fester.

just a warning.. don't put too big a gage ball or stem in it, it makes a huge hole in your nose and might not grow back shut! it also leaves a huge scar. My ex had a big one in his nose for years and tried to take it out and it left a huge hole. He waited a few months for it to grow shut and he could still put it back in, it wouldn't close. Soe ven though he is in a business enviroment now, he has to wear it because it just looks nasty without.
I got mine pierced at the beach after too much partying, I wore a small gold hoop for about a year and when I took it out it immediately grew shut with no scar. Just some advice.. |

I don't think it's weird for a guy to get his nose pierced. Usually thought, it's not a stud. My one guy friend does have a stud in his nose tho. |

In general, I think body piercings, except for ear lobes, are ugly and unsanitary. I also believe that persons that have such body piercings have deep psychological problems with low self esteem and extreme insecurity. I will grant that there may be exceptions to my generalizations, and hopefully, you are an exception! |

different folks, different strokes. mine are always very clean and sanitary. My self esteem is pretty high, i don't think i have any phsycological problems and i am definitly not insecure! i like my lips and got my vertical labret done because its like they went hand in hand. and im not going to lie, my girlfriend said i would look very good with my nose done and that she thinks i should get it, put a little jewel there, liked it, so went and got it done |

I hope some of the younger folks are seeing a theme emerge in this thread - - lots of posts about how people used to have piercings and are now working in professional environments and have shed them as much as they can.
Rather than risking a parole violation for thread-jacking, I posted my own thoughts on the issue here... |
