â€Â¦aircraft? Taken on a clear day with a canon 70-300mm IS USM lens at 300mm (equiv. 480mm).
What I do know.
1. 4 engine aircraft with the engines far forward on wing.
2. Body seems to be wider than a 747-400
3. Tail seems to be very large
4. Wing width seems larger at body than a 747-400
5. Taken over Georgia heading N/NE on 3/17/2007.

I clicked the link thinking "please don't let it be a spider please please please...."

So 1. thanks for not showing a spider
2. Sorry, no idea what the plane is, but my Dad would know! Was it closer to North Georgia (Lockheed Martin & Dobbins) or South Georgia (Jax airbases)?

There is a good chance that this is what you saw. I recently read that it was making it's first flight to the U.S., a good chance it flew into Atlanta.

Its gotta be a 747 but I wanna say it could also be the new Airbus A380 but I'm not sure cause it landed here in NYC on the 19th

Looks more like a Military plane to me. The wings don't seem commercial jetliner-ish. I'm no aviation expert, but I did play one on TV and slept at a Holiday Inn Express.

edit: I'm no typing expert either.

Could be a C-5 Galaxy. Couldn't find a better, more similar pic, but I'll keep looking.

Here is a picture of a jet being escorted (taken at the same place) apparently going to Atlanta or an airbase around Atlanta. The altitude is of the 4 engine plane and fighters are a lot lower, compared.

DId you see anyone like this aboard?:

It does look like a military transport more than commercial.

lol you guys never stop...lol

If it is a military plane the first one I think of is a C-5/B Galaxy

Ft. Benning is based here and I see a lot of C-5G's. It appears that the engines on the C-5G is closer to the body and closer together than this jet. also the C-5G wing width seems to be a bit smaller at the body. Could be though!

given the size of the wings, and the shape of the body (larger in the middle), I would vote in favor of the Airbus 380 that flew over the US a couple of days ago.

Here is a clearer shot from below, for comparison purposes

I forgot to ask - WHY do you want to know? Did they dump frozen blue toilet ice on your house? Were they flying in an erratic manner so as to indicate possible pilot intoxication? or are you just inquisitive?

Man, I hate it when the plane gets tangled up in barbed wire.

That other pic looks like it could be a KC-135 tanker given the low rear wings, but I can't make out the boom on the tail.

No blue ice, flying straight (didn't forget coffee or drunk pilots), not inquisitive - I guess just curious. Was it you going to burn a village??? :)

Always been fascinated with aircraft. I was wondering if it could of been the Airbus 380 but knew it was a few days before it's arrival in the US and not near JFK. Didn't look like a 747 (to me!). I guess just want to know.

Just been fiddling with the picture and the plane has a high tailplane and looks very much like a C-5 Galaxy.

Engine spacing and wing sweep seem to favour the Galaxy as opposed to the Airbus 380.

definently a C-5 I also played with it in photoshop and if you mess with the unsharpmask in photoshop you can see the high tailwing

This plane doesn't look the same as the one Scott posted. That dark area on the undercarriage would show up in Scott's, and the jets look to be configured differently (on Scott's they seem longer than the above photo).

Thanks, I'm going to try that in CS. I tried playing with it in RawShooter essentials but didn't give me any useful detail.

ETA: Yes, has to be a C-5G. When I used USM a full levels you can clearly see that the tail wings are on top of the tail-fen and the smoke from the engines goes below the tail wings. Also the body does not show any signs of the A380 blue paint near the rear underbelly as glad2badad stated.

Thanks!

Not likely. While I have been looking into larger, more efficient incendiary delivery methods, my funds currently limit me to my hand tossed torch, Molitov cocktail, and occasionally the home made trebuchet when it's not in the shop. It is very difficult to keep up with the ever-increasing demands for vengeance.

I see planes flying overhead once in awhile too and it's rare enough that I wonder what kind of plane it is and what it is doing over my house. I always just end up chalking it up to government surveillance.

I assume you're gonna warn them because they've got sensor dust incoming?
