sooo, my husband and i go through a LOT of batteries with our various equipment. . .and we're wondering if it's worth it to invest in some rechargeables.

thoughts?

:o)

I only use rechargeables in my little P&S and would never go back to regular.

I only use rechargeable batteries ... in both of my cameras and my flash ... wouldn't consider using regular batteries, I'd spend a fortune if I went that way ...

you'll want to buy the highest rated milliamp ( mA )batteries you can find. the higher the rating the longer they'll last between charges.

I use the Panasonic Ni-MH AAs1.2v(HHR-3EPA). A set of 6 with a very well designed charger (BQ-390 quick charger) were under $30, and have been going great for 2 years now, Because they are Ni-MH they deliver a much more sustained charge in the flash head compared to Alkeline disposables, which tend to bleed out the later half of their charge slowly making the flash balky and slow charging. My flash takes four AAs so I keep four in the flash and the other two, and two alkelines with my CF cards as back ups, and for freinds who desperately need batteries, I have the disposables to give them. No matter what you may say, loaned batteries are never returned.
PS 2100mAh

I use rechargeables for both my cameras and flash. I have several sets always charged. Saved lots of $ and never had a problem.

Yep NiMH Nickel Metal Hydride (not National Institute of Mental Health) batteries are worth every cent you pay for them. find the highest MWH rating ones you can find ... they are NOT cheap but will save you TONS in the first year.

For my Sony I use Energizer 2500mAh NiMH batteries, they last very long. The camera will eat a pair of alkalines fairly quickly.

We use 24 of the Energizer rechargeable (2500 mAh), and also several of the older 2100 & 1850 mAh's. With 2 of the '15 minute chargers' & one of the overnite chargers, we are pretty well set. Cost over $100, but WELL worth the convenience and piece of mind. We use them for an MB-D200 battery pack, 2 of the SB800 flash units, and a Sekonic light meter, and have never had a problem where we ran out of batteries.

To be fully honest, we did have 2 batteries go bad. One quick email to energizer & we had a coupon for replacements in just two days. You can also pick them up almost anywhere (walmart, eckerd, etc.)

I recently replaced all the batteries in my house with rechargeable batteries and am quite happy with it. I read that camera flashes will recharge between flashes faster with rechargeables than they will with normal batteries.

A single 2500 mah Rechargable AA caries 50% more energy then the entire CR-V3 battery pack. Now remember your putting two of them in there.....!

I use a 15 minute battery charger on 2500mah nimh's. The only thing that last longer is them 14 dollar a pair disposable lithium e2 from energizer which crank almost 4 amps of stored power.

15 or 30 minute chargers cost 30-60 bucks with a pack of 4 batterys running 10 bucks. 4 Hour and 18 Hour overnight chargers can be come by for 9 bucks.
