Just got my first prescription of this today for my Type2 Diabetes. Wondering if anyone else is on it, and what about side effects or progress. All input welcome public or private.

In addition to any helpful info you get on here, I would suggest you call your local pharmacist...it is a requirement for them to 'counsel' any questions....they should have done that before you even left the pharmacy!

I work for a pharmacy and they spend as much time counceling customers as they do preparing the script.

I think the question was more of "how did it work for you" rather than "what did the company tell the pharmacy to tell you"...

I'm not familiar with Byetta - my wife has been on Glucophage and/or Metformin for years now, though. No side effects there. (No help to your question, I know.)

My father in law has been on this for over a year and has done ALL KINDS of personal research about it. I think maybe he even set up a website about it all...I'll have to ask him. If that's true, I'll reply here with the site if you wanna check it out.

It's worked very well for him, though he has noticed that he has to be fairly strict in terms of eating withing 30 min to an hour of taking it.

On the plus side, he also noticed an INCREDIBLE weight loss!! Nothing frighteningly unhealthy, but he was a bigger guy and lost about 50lbs without really changing his diet or excersize.

He's really only had good things to say about it. The biggest challenge was finding ways he could store it at work at the appropriate temperatures. It's apparently really temperature sensitive and if it drops below or goes above the prescribed temps then it kills the proteins in the pen. So he's assembled a number of different "cooling" devices that he can easily transport on trips, vacations, and for hunting etc. when he doesn't have access to a fridge.

Ok, the website he uses is:

//www.diabetesmonitor.com

I checked it out and it looks like there are a lot of good resources on there. He's gonna send me an email with more links/sites to check out and I'll post them here when I get it :-)

Good luck!

Yeah, I had a 30 min. tutorial from my doctor about it today, as well as from the diabetic nurse I counsel with. I am all good on dosing and storage etc. I just wondered if anyone here was on it and how they are doing taking it?

I couldn't even feel the needle!!! Poking for readings is way more painful. LOL

apparently you haven't had interactions with my Pharmacist boss....He does not simply recite!

don't mean to resurrect an old thread, but I take offense to the response at my attempt to assist. I'll refrain next time.

Bottomline, CallipeKel, I hope you got the information you were looking for, rather than just hear-say.

All I have gotten so far is VOMITING...and lots of it. So bad I am deathly afraid of more byetta. I have to wait a day or two to try it again, I am battling the flu and probably not a good time to be trying the byetta.

My father in law said he had some vomiting and nausea in the first couple of weeks, but that it quickly subsided. Now he only notices it if he eats foods too high in fat or sugars.
