I took a couple of pics for the color portrait challenge. I have the couple of pics I like best and one of them is testing my patience. I am trying to figure out how to remove stray hairs out of the eyes. I have tried the cloning technique and for the life of me I cannot get the strays out without making the white of the eye look dirty.
As this is a current challenge I cant post a pic, but maybe from my description I can get some help!?!?!?!?
Pretty please! :D |

After you finish cloning the hair try using the burn tool to lighten the white of the eye. |

my problem is when I am cloning. I guess there is not enough white in the eyes, so when I choose a section to clone, it ends up pulling the wrong colors in (hope that made sense). |

don't you mean dodge? burn makes it darker, dodge makes it lighter. also, do the hairs take away from the feeling of the pic, or do you really need to remove them. it sounds like removing them digitally would be a big pain, but if it's necessary i'll look at different techniques. (what program are you using?) |

you could always use a pure white brush and adjust the color of that area as seen fit. (hope that makes sense too) |

you might also try just using the dodge brush instead of the clone brush.

lol I knew what you meant.
The hairs are quite distracting. A little clump of them go right over the white of the eye. Even when I get as much of them out and try dodging, the eye just looks a little crazy :D
Im using PS7 |

Make sure to turn off all other layers when you are cloning. If you have "Sample All Layers" selected, you will get very funky results from cloning. Other than that. just try to use a small soft brush and make a selection as close to the area you are cloning out as possible. Also (and depending on your lighting), consider cloning from the other eye. |

If you could take another picture, different enough from your potential challenge entry to be disparate while containing similar enough elements to be functional, we could show you what we mean. |

a gathered clump, or spread out clump? if gathered, it could add character. if spread out, i can't really blame you. ask someone very close to you (and not a member of this site) for their honest opinion. if they think you should get rid of it, then i think you should see what you can can do to rid of it. if they say it adds character, then you might want to take the easy way out. i only say this because others can often see what you can't. remember though, it's still up to you. just sounds like a lot of hassel that you'd be happier if you could ignore. :)
