does it work?
I know they are the same battery BP-511, but the original batteries that come with the camera are different amps. Are they still interchangeable with each other?

| The BP-511a battery that is standard with the 5D is just an upgraded, higher capacity version of the BP-511. They are interchangeable both ways; I've used both combinations. |

It's not amps... the difference is the milliamp-hour (mAh) rating of the battery which is a way to calculate how long it will last at a given current draw. The voltage is the only thing that actually makes a difference to a battery's compatibility
