so i signed up at smugmug and i went through joker.com for my host. I signed up and instead of telling me prior to paying i now see that i would have to get credit card verification. they want me to fax my credit card info to some foreign number. Has anyone else done this? i signed up for mastercard security code but they (joker.com) said they wont take that now because i did it after i paid.

I've only heard of Joker.com in the context of scam artists. The company might be perfectly fine, but I don't trust them.

well i dont know what to do because they already took my credit card info, but it doesnt show that they have charged me yet. it sucks though cause it says they are holding my domain name which i really liked it so i'd like to keep it. i just dont understand why smugmug would have them listed as their #1 host provider if they are a scam. It did sound fishy thats why i was asking here. this is very irritating!

Scalvert,

All the stuff you referenced was from all the spammers that have registered with them because they are in Germany.

Looks like there's nothing wrong with them unless you get an e-mail from their domain.

Goldberry - if you use e-mail on your site from them, you may get blocked by clients spam filters.

On the CC deal, yeah, I don't know. They may just want it because the spammers keep scamming them.
