It is not the price of the lens that will break the bank, it is the circular polarizing filter that is going to be a problem!

I was thinking the same thing. I was trying to make a guess about which would cost more, the Polarizing filter or the SD14 on the back end of it...

Actually, given more thought, I'm wondering which would weigh more too...

It's taken me about an hour to cool down about that lens enough to be able to simply say: Woah.

I wish I had a MacLaren F1 in my garage so I could park it on the street with a 'for sale' sign...

Oh and for the 'Chuck Norris' fans...

Chuck Norris once whipped out his pocket cam, screwed a 'Godzigma' on the end of it and IT roundhoused HIM to the moon. ;)

So is this the Sigma Evenbiggerma?

Wondering myself what name would be given this one, after bigma and sigmonster (et al), it looks like the dpreview crowd have quickly anointed it "Godzigma". Catchy.

Yeah kinda fits. I still like the sigmonster though, but wow this thing will be 1000mm at F5.6 with a 2x, that's crazy!

SigZilla

(anyone want to take a shot of pasting it into a Godzilla scene? BTW...whatever happened to the DPCEnquirer?)

If you DID lose it, you could use one of your hubcaps in the interim.

the only problem is that this thing has a minimum focal range of 50 metres.

sure, you can photograph footprints on the moon, but to take a photo of your family, they'd need to drive down the street for 10 minutes, get out of the car and phone you to say that they're ready!

LOL

... and even then, you'd still only get one nostril in the frame... just going to have to pick the best looking one...
