Everyone deserves a second chance... including Rikki...his past mistakes are behind us, he's been polite and has NOT gone negative on the site in others forums even with the bashing he received at the time. Should he return, he probably would realize that he will be under a microscope for a while until he regains trust. That said I join the people who would welcome him back, and would hope that DPC can join together and let bygones be bygones |

I don't want him to come back. Lately, it's been possible to get through several challenges without seeing any wineglasses in front of computer monitors. I don't want to risk losing that.
This site has enough Rikkis as it is. And I don't mean cheaters.

No disrespect to your opinion, but what basis would he have to go "negative"? He really doesn't have a leg to stand on to take that kind of position, even if he wanted to (but I got the impression from his mannerisms here that that's not a road he would take anyway - which is cool). |

Seems like with all the obsession about scores around here people would be a bit more skeptical of someone who repeatedly tried to manipulate them. Personally, I'm thinking about all the people who were robbed of their time in the limelight because of the misplaced ribbons.
However, if Rikki decided that he wanted to come back I'm sure that as a community we could find a way to make it work. |
That's pretty much how I feel about it. I don't think I'd been around too long when it all went down, but I'd been here long enough to know. Regardless, at some level a cheater is always a cheater... people can reform, but up to them to prove to people that they have.
I liked his photography and I'd be interested in seeing him back on some level, but I would definitely we wary. |

with the post concerning his suspension here in the forums, he could have said negative things about dpc like others have in other site's forums...he was a gentleman.. took his punishment and the criticisms and at times nastiness of DPCers like a man

When I first came to DPC, I found Rikki very helpful, and he was one of the first people who made me feel "included" and I would welcome him back.
If I ever meet him in person, I'd say, "What up, Dog? That photo you took last time, it was just a'ight for me, but you're still one of my faves. Keep'n it real, yo."
Hmm, I think I'm in the wrong forum. |

I alsp would be happy with his return. I remember that days in summer when I discovered the news: RIKKI HAS CHEATED!!!!
It was very hard to discover this, because he had been for some months one of the "entertainers" of the forums, one of the very active commenters, very friendly and funny and a really good photog.
But suddenly came down from heaven to hell... I had encountered feelings then. But now (and more in july) I feel I'll like to welcome him.

Rikki I believe is a good person who made a poor decision and I suspect he has probably learned an important life lesson from it. Rikki is an excellent photographer and seemed to take joy in passing along his photographic knowledge and techniques. Would I welcome Rikki back? Certainly. Would I trust him? Yes I would. But to answer the question "What would happen if Rikki came back?", first it would take a certain amount of courage for him to do so. There would probably be a little grumbling from some DPCs and Rikki would have to eat some humble pie in the beginning but ultimately I think it would work out. I hope Rikki has the courage to make the jump. |

Not necessarily relating to Rikki, but I don't think that not acting like a spoiled adolescent by ranting and raving elsewhere is any kind of mark of a man. Normal behaviour, that is, acting like an adult, shouldn't be particularly lauded. |

Excuuse me for being mistaken and confusing two liars for each other.
I think I'll go off and conjure up some conspiracy theories.

Originally posted by CEJ: I didn't see this mentioned anywhere above, but I also realize I now need glasses - getting old. However, I do remember seeing the entry and reading that AFTER his being banned, he came back under another user name and continued to try and participate in the sites activities. He was discovered via the style/content of the picture he entered under his new name. So this statement:

is kind of curious. Seems to me he continued to try and deceive the general population, not the act of a gentleman, and certainly not the act of one who is 'taking his punishment.'
Personally, I don't care if he comes back or not. Not up to me - up to the admins/SC and whatever happens in the future concerning Rikki or anyone else who is suspended/banned, I trust will have been determined to be the most equitable resolution for all involved - including the general population of the site.
What I am even more curious about is the reason this thread was started to begin with? What is the motive? Why was it necessary to even ask this question? Especially in the forums...just don't see the logic behind it other than...well, with that I will shut my mouth. |
Rikki never came back under a different name. I'm not sure what you are remembering there.
To answer your question about why I started this thread:
A) I love to observe and discuss human nature.
B) I love DPC.
C) Rikki was a friend.
D) I brought this up months before it was even a possibility in order to let it die down long before Rikki could even come back (if he even wants to).
E) B & C above may not perfectly mesh. Personally, I would like to have Rikki back to be able to interact with him regularly again. However, I don't want to have someone walking around that just attracts negativity and causes unpleasantness in the forums. I wanted to gauge whether Rikki could possibly represent such a person IF he came back.
So leave your conspiracy theories at home.

To the best of my knowledge, Rikki never came back under another name.
The user who will not be named did that a couple of times though. :/ |

"What would happen if Rikki came back?"
Would the number of registered users suddenly take a jump of thirty or so?

I just can't imagine why he would want to come back. As many people who would welcome him back with open arms, there are as many who would never respect or trust him or want to interact with him again. And I have a feeling that even the ones who want him back -- deep down -- they know he's different -- in a negative way -- from other people. It would never be the same for him, and he would never have the respect he enjoyed before.
I don't have any problem forgiving him -- and he did cost me 1st place in that MS Tournament with one of his fake ribbons -- but I can't imagine a man wanting to come back to a site like this knowing how many people will look down on him till the day they die.

FWIW, I would like to see Rikki back... I consider him a friend and think he made valuable contributions to the site. I also feel that he has learned a very valuable lesson from what happened and I seriously doubt he would repeat the same mistake... Like Bear said earlier... bygones.... |
