What happened on Jan 1. 2007 to spike so high. I know it was the signing up of the WPL but I don't think it spiked the site that much.
Take a look
also good info... congratulation DPChallenge 5 stars out of 5 on reviews.

Interesting stats. I never would have guessed that we have over 3X more visitors from Iran than Iceland. |

That Alexa site puts a tracking program (not a cookie) in your system. This is how it gets it's stats ! Ten computers at my office were running SLoooooWWWW on the net and when I hacked around I found an Alexa program in each one. I removed with Adaware and the computers improved GREATLY.
Every site you go to is recorded and sent to Alexa for stat keeping.
If you went to that site, I would check your system tonight and be sure you weren't loaded up with Alexa !

We got digged and farked on the same day. Either one is enough to bring many sites to their knees (that the phenomenons have names should tell you something about the amount of traffic those sites drive). We had both at once.

Just from going to the site? I am searching my computer now, do you know what the name is so I know what I am looking for?

AdAware or Spybot will catch Alexa. Unless your security settings are very low, I doubt that just visiting the site would infect the computer. Never hurts to run periodic checks though. |

The program will find "Alexa". You may not get it from that site directly but I would still check. Any number of different sites associated with Alexa will stick that program on you computer. If you don't have it...great....if you do...it is simple to get rid of.
Also, when you look at thos stats on Alexa, it is a "stat" derived from computers/browsers that are carrying the Alexa germ.

We might be getting higher traffic today too, since we're mentioned in the photographer's notes on SJCarter's Kodak PotD, though I doubt it would be anything like what Digg or Fark can generate.
