Go to Bogens website and get the number and call their technical dept. I'm sure they can get you one.

buy a new ball head, take the part you need, and return it - because that important piece was missing ;}
they''l send it to bogen - and six weeks when they get the parts in - they will be able to replace it. meanwhile you'll have a functioning ball head...

OK, so I removed the screw from mine to see what options you might have. Here's some information:
It's apparently an M8 screw, coarse thread (1.25mm pitch), with a threaded portion at least 30mm (1.2 inches) long. This item should be readily available at good hardware stores. The tip of the screw is not modified except to be filed flat (the upturned edge from the end of the rolled threads is removed). The screw threads are lubricated liberally with a black grease (molybdenum disulfide loaded?). You may want to order a tube or ask Bogen what they use, so when you get your real part, you can relubricate it.
Less than a euro and 5 minutes with a file and you should be temporarily back in business. :-) |

thanks for the info. I was wondering if it had a different end or something. I tried a few old bolts which were rusty and 50 years old I had around the house and couldn't get any to fit. Found a bolt from an old velbon tripod that fit, but didn't tigten the ball (it wasn't long enough) and was worried that the one i lost had a special end or something.
I guess i will make a trip to the hardware store tommorow and try a few bolts out... hopefully it will work.
the new part cotss $10.00 so not too bad - i think i will order 2 :) ... but now they are closed :(
