I wonder how you think that claiming I quoted you out of context will change the fact that I didn't quote you out of context. I wonder if any sheep will fall for that claim. I wonder if you're actually fooling yourself. Just wondering.

Still have one of his images in my favorites. I would welcome him back. I don't think he would be likely to re-offend. Open arms here.

I wonder if that was supposed to make sense.

If he came back under a new account, that would be against site rules and he'd no doubt be suspended again for that. |
Does this mean he couldn't come back if he wanted to? Or would he just have to re-register his old name? |

I wonder if that question changes the fact that it does make sense.
:-P
Edit to add: have you ever noticed how quoting someone puts everything into italics, thereby ruining the effect of any italicized words within those quotes?

He could write to us nicely and ask us to reactivate his old account, but if he wanted to do that he probably wouldn't have asked us to close it down in the first place.

Again, there is nothing on the part of the admins or sc to keep him from coming back. He asked to have his account cancelled, we did not do that unilaterally. IF he wants to come back, it would need to be under his old account, and I'm sure we could work with him about reinstating it.

Why would we want a knowing cheater back. If he is allowed back, on prohibition, then this site might as well all forget all the rules. If he is let back in, then give me back my DQed "Blue Ribbon". Just my thoughts. Van |

He was never banned, you know, just suspended for a year. And others here have gotten off with much lighter sentences on much less contrition and yet remain.

I remember the Rikki issue, and I thought him a wonderful photog. I did lose respect for him over the vote-loading. I am all for second chances however, so if he's learned from his mistake - maybe SC has an Agreement to Not Re-Offend clause to get him to agree to? |

Not much of a difference between suspended or banned for the time period. He can't enter a challenge can he?

Around here, "banned" means never to return; "suspended" means limiting some or all use of the site for a specified time period, when those limitations expire. |

He could have remained in the forums. A suspension is temporary and only pertains to challenges. Banning is for life and also bans you from the forums and even from having an account. Rikki was suspended. Rose was banned. There's a HUGE difference.

I thought that was called the "Terms of Use". Seriously, if he wants to come back once his suspension is up, or even reinstate his account before then just to talk before the suspension is up, then just let him.

Actually, a suspension can apply to anything and everything. eg Forum suspension, commenting suspension, entering suspension, voting suspension, and complete site suspension, which is what Rikki has.

Thread title: What would happen if Rikki came back? ...
We wouldn't have multiple page threads going on wondering about it.
I for one, find it rather amusing to see there is still such a large fan club of someone who was caught cheating. Yet - we have threads every week bemoaning "trolls" and what to do about getting rid of them. ??? |

Well, Ben, he might feel differently after a year.
I'd welcome him back. I'm sure he's learned his lesson.
For those of you asking what he did, doesn't it suck to be ignored and not have anyone explain? Rikki was suspended for a year because he had 30 or so friends of his voting his pics a 10. If someone wants to say there was more to it, then feel free to, but that's what I remember from 8 months ago. I tried to search for the thread but searching for "rikki" didn't yield that thread.

This is true, and the reason we allow people to reopen their accounts, just in case :) I guess to me though in this case it just seems like a way of hiding from the repercussions of the whole thing. Avoiding a banned label on his name by just deleting his name. To reopen it right after the ban is over would leave a bit of a sour taste imo.
