Okay so if you had photoshop at work you could adjust it there. If you don't, you could still visually compare two-PHOTOS (not screens), side-by-side at work. Compare it to some "Standard", or a color-calibeated, photo that someone else took, that you know is good.

Even the best photos ever taken will always look bad on a cheap, dull-dark, or not color-calibrated monitor. They will also look different on different types, LCDs vs CRTs, etc.

What I was reccommending is to compare two photos to each other. Your-winning shot against a past winning shot, on the SAME monitor. If it looks as good as a past winning shot, that is all that matters. It doesn't matter what monitor you do this on.

You can not adjust to everyone's monitor. On whatever monitor the person is voting, they are accustomed to it. They're seeing and comparing your photo to all others on their same monitor. Unless they do voting at different locations.

Learning tricks from the Masters/Professonals is good way to learn, whether in class or on the internet. The "School of hard knocks" is putting theory into application, just as important.

ICE = Votes/Views: 137/186, Avg Vote: 5.781 (about 279 entries)
Free Study - Votes/Views: 78/94, Avg Vote: 5.0897 (Submissions: 621)
My FS, I did only-cropping, it was a last minute/seconds substitute, since my cropping tool in PS2 wasn't working (works in Adobe Bridge).

Hard-Knocks: If you choose a "Template Size", such as 8" x 10" after clicking the Cropping Tool in PS2. You don't only get draging handles on the four corners and can-not size in one direction only. Before you go insane, the way to "turn off" this selected template is to type Zeros in the two Height/Width entry boxes that appear near the top of the window.

Cold temps... both degrees (LOL) are really trying my patience. I need to switch gears to get something in on time...my props are frozen in my car!!! Triple AAA has been taking forever, but then I bet they have a lot of calls today.

No school today, freezing temps, sub zero wind chill...stuck in the house ...bla bla bla - this was not my plan!!!

I hope I don't let the tean down... :/

Colorcarnival, you could've at least gotten a sunburn for the Red-2 Challenge.

New-motto: "LESS EFFORT GOES A LONG WAY".

My "Red-2" is at Votes: 38, Views: 46, Avg Vote: 5.0789
It took an hour in my home, with about 10-15-shots.

My "Furniture" is at: Votes: 117, Views: 170, Avg Vote: 4.9316
It took about 3 hours, including driving time, with about 180-shots.
Of course, I'll submit some of my outakes on that one at other websites.

Thanks Team!
Three out of Four Weekly Challenges, we had all 7 out of 7 team members contribute scores! Way to go, I hope this trend continues, the overall scores show it.

i'm certainly gonna try to get one in for next week.
03/08/2007 02:09:02 PM · #364
i apologize that my week 5 "red" submission didn't make it in time. i did the processing and preparation on my plane trip back from seattle, and while the image was ready well before midnight, i didn't have internet access until 11:54, and i was submitting as the clock hit midnight. the image is posted at yahoo, and i will post it on dpc after voting finishes. sorry about that...
03/08/2007 02:24:54 PM · #365
That happened to me also...I forget which challenge
03/09/2007 11:49:26 AM · #366
If we compare our current team avg. to all the team averages in all the divisions, we're not doing too, bad.

We are done now, aren't we? I think we have finished the regular season and now it goes into playoffs? I don't think we are in the playoffs lol

yeps it looks like we are done. It was a pleasure ladies and gentlemen!

A little off the subject, but I was so upset yesterday to realize that "Shout at the Devil" only made it onto the Crue's Greatest Hits album as a "Live" version.

If any of ya'll have the production version, I would be so so happy to obtain a version.

Yes, it is true. I didn't expect to be in the playoffs. in our division the minimum wins was 3, the other three Divisions 2 wins got the team in the playoffs.

In any of the other Divisions we would still be in the playoffs. In Division A the 2nd place Team's score is close to our team Avg. Next years' WPL might have all new rules. We seemed to have more skilled contenders in this Division.

I will make the souveneer playing cards this week. I was taking 300 pictures last night for the "Image Grain II" Challenge. As once before I may not have submitted my best one, but got some excellent stock photos and experience out of it. This was the first time I shot at ISO 1600 and added noise.

I'm sure all of us have learned a few new things in creation, post processing, and what the dpc.com voting audience likes. For me it doesn't stop here, I'll keep competing, I'm hoping to get my first ribbon this year.

Tlemetry got a Ribbon, and many of us have gotten some high scores. Congratulations to all team members for trying and spending the time learning. Learning is something that is continuous.

I do prefer to take pictures in the upcoming warmer weather a lot more then in Winter. We are still a team for the rest of this year and can continue to share Tips, Tricks, and Criticisms on our photography efforts as we have been doing.

"All I need is a photograph...", "Don't take my Kodachrome away...".
