Yes, that is quite right, it would only make a minimal difference. However, if voting is especially close, that small skew in score might make the difference between 3rd and 4th place, for example.

@ darthsn - I joined this site having completed a photography course. I did it because IMO the best way of developing is to have specific 'assignments' - and DPC gives you that. The most important thing is that you are out there taking photos and having fun. For me, I'm not too fussed about scores - but I do appreciate people taking time to comment on my work, and constructive criticism is the most useful feedback.

What makes DPC a valuable resource is that it allows photographers to share ideas, criticisms, comments, encouragement and so on. Most contributors are amateur/hobbyists who probably never have had formal training, and want to learn from experts. Not everyone can sacrifice time in their lives to attend courses etc. In fact, I'd argue that if people all went to do formal training, they would be less inclined to visit this site..

I think that a quick way of getting shot of trolls would be to show the % of scores an individual has given in their profile - I'm sure that this is technically feasible.
