is our current era the only period where we try to imitate another? we wear clothes from the 70s, people decorate their shops and restaurants as if they came out from the 80s, so what exactly are the things that identify us in our current era? in the future, if people are to imitate how things had been in 2000, what are the best things? do we have an identity?

haha, exactly my point.
but anyway, when you look at a photo, or a scene in the movies, what lets you identify the era it was taken in? |

I think what CEJ is confused about is the period of time you are talking about. You mention era but mention the YEAR 2000-but 2000 isn't our present year. Do you want the challenge to be the entire century, decade or a particular year? I think era usually means more than just one year...could be wrong.
I personnally would sit this out as I'm still sore about my comment in the "80's" challenge where this image:
got a comment (yes I know just one) saying that it DNMC cause it was invented in the 70's and there for not an item of the 80's-BULL!
I think this challenge would have to be more defined to pick a particular time frame to help keep the DNMC's at bay.
