I've been looking at these lights as I'm thinking of building a home studio.
Are 75W/sec enough for general use? Why would I need 300W/sec?
Any comments welcome |

I wouldn't buy cheap just to get by. Spend the extra for a nice set of lights.......you won't regret it.

| I agree with Rex. Don't buy just *any* lights to get by...you'll kick yourself in the butt later! Get the best lights you can possibly afford, and if you can't afford them now save up until you can. |

| Problem is, I don't really know what makes a good light. Build quality, obviously. But that doesn't matter much if they 're not moved around. (Right?). Wattage? Life span? What should I be looking for? |

I wouldn't buy anything from here: default, default, Hong Kong (which is where the items location is listed)
either because you can't get your money back if you get screwed or everything is broken when it arrives. Unless, of course, you live in Hong Kong ;) |

| I bought a cheaper strobe once, and now it's broken even tho I never moved it. The company who makes it, is impossible to contact. Get something worth the money. |

| Look at these instead. AlienBees They're quality lights and have been tested for years under all kinds of conditions. Many pros swear by them as do many non-pros. I've had mine for about 5 years now and (knock wood), I've never changed a bulb - and I use them almost every day. You get what you pay for. |

| I'm in the UK so I need 220V... IT seems the variety over here is somewhat limited.... |

They have converters and ship anywhere. You could also check ebay for AlienBees or Bowens or WhiteLighting - all good brands |

| Yes, I know Bowens are nice, but also quite expensive. The other name featured heavily here is Interfit, morte budget-oriented. |

Yeah as a matter of fact I have a set of Interfit's, they work very well so far. The 300 Stellar's.
