Yes, Go to Apple Menu > About this Mac. For more info, click... you guessed it... More Info!!

I have a PowerMac G5 (Dual 2.3Ghz chips.) It has 4.5 GB of PC3200 RAM. I use a 300GB SATA disk as photostorage and scratch.

I've never had even a hiccup. Ha. Ha. ... ... Ha.

EDIT: Oh, and I can go up to 8GB. Ha.

Oh, and as for Photoshop CS2, it will never make use of more than 2GB of RAM. There is no point if you only use Photoshop to go over that barrier. CS3 Beta however, that absolutely SCREAMS on that Mac!

Hey Everybody,

I just installed the 2 gigs that I bought, so now my total RAM is 2.5 gig.

Photoshop CS runs GREAT now! What a huge difference! I should have upgraded my memory a long time ago...

Thanks for your help!

I did install it myself. Believe it or not, it was only slightly more difficult than changing a lightbulb. You just turn your computer off, open up the case, and plug in the new memory cards into the empty memory slots. Turn the computer back on, and the computer automatically recognizes the extra memory. Done!

The hardest part is probably buying the memory itself. Do a Google search for "memory upgrade". It will direct you to a bunch of websites that sell memory. At these websites, you typically type in the kind of computer you have, and the website will give you a few options of memory to buy (another option is to let the website automatically scan your computer for you). You can buy the memory from those websites, or if you want to save a few bucks, you can buy the memory from a discount retailer like newegg.com. I have a computer savy friend who helped me shop at newegg.com. If it weren't for him, I would have gone the safe route and simply purchased the memory from one of the aforementioned websites. I would suggest NOT buying the cheapest brand of memory, but at the same time, I wouldn't buy a really expensive one, either.

I bought 2 Gig of RAM (Corsair brand, which is a very good brand) from newegg.com for about $175, including shipping.

Hope this info helps and isn't too long-winded :)

You may want to avoid stroking the cat just prior installation. Instead, ground yourself and then touch some metal part of the case.

if you leave the lead in the PSU when u take the case off, then touch the casing of the PSU as u pull the lead out, you'll ground urself :)

either that or touch a radiator ;)
