One Im assuming it doesnt come with a battery at 150 bucks.
2 - does the shutter button work if it doesnt have a battery in it and if not can i runt he camera with the battery in the grip instead.
I know the point is to have multiple batteries but at 150 bucks itll be awhile before i have a second battery. |

Heavily thinking on it.
Have been weighting different camera's for past 6 months. If my insurance drops me then ill have an extra 400 a month for the next 2 years. If i keep driving the truck then itll be a year till i can save up enough.
But my 35mm SLR is DONE!

Thats what credit cards and student loans are for, my friend!
If you do go Pentax, it'll be just in time to kit it with the new DA* glass. I can barely wait...

I saw a kit for almost a grand flat, Comes with grip and second battery... no lense but then again the 899 (from dell) plus 167 for the battery and grip... u get the 18-55 that comes with the current kit... for just over the endge of a grand... maybe better way to go.
I was also considering the K100D, along with with the Sony A100, and sevral other camera's. The battery grip is a big thing for me and several camera's just dont have it including the Sony A100 and the K100/110. |

1. No, it isn't sold with a battery. Some stores might offer a package, but I've not seen anything so far.
2. Yes, the shutter button works without a battery in the grip, as do the wheels. The grip is not powered independently, even if it has a battery in it. You must have the camera turned on at all times. I do not know if the camera will run with the battery *only* in the grip, but I imagine it will, as it is designed to switch to the grip battery when the camera's battery is exhausted... so it makes sense that a battery in the grip only will power everything. |

Thanks i did manage to fine one grip at a cheaper price and it packaged with the battery for just under 170 bucks.
Mainly I wanted that grip for the poser pro look. But now that I know it has a shutter button on it that will be very useful to me. |
