My computer is bogging down on me lately - running photo editors eats up RAM fast - so I'm looking to upgrade my RAM.

Currently have 2-256MB sticks of DDR RAM, and looking to upgrade at least one of them to a 1GB stick, if not both.

Where is the least expensive place to look ? I am in Ontario, Canada.

Online, TigerDirect is a good value. We happen to have two 'brick and mortar' stores here in Miami. Maybe you got a location there in Ontario also.

edit to add: check the Sunday newspaper for sale ads. You might find a first edition will be available by late this afternoon or this evening and then shop through the ads for the best prices.

Newegg

Outpost.com aka Frys

It is usually a good idea to put them in in 2s. Some mobos won't be happy or might not allow mix and match sizes.

If you can only afford a gig I would get (2) 512's as opposed to 1 new 1gig and reusing 1 old 256m.

EDIT: If you are not a hardcore computer abuser look at the Kingston Value RAM that works fine for everyday use.

depends on which part of Ontario
several choices locally (Ottawa) but that won't help you in Dryden, Barrie or Wawa :)
trouble with tigerdirect sometimes their shipping charges inflate their prices making them same as local stores

had reasonable prices from 'best-buy' computers... they have several stores across Ont.

I have had excellent luck with Crucial.com
Decent prices and fast shipping.

They also have a very easy to use memory selector. Just enter your make and model of computer or use their system scanner to get the correct memory.

Near Toronto.

Would like to add 2GBs if I can do so without breaking the bank.
