Hey folks thanks for not giving me too much grief with my grading in the "School Biology" challenge. I had more fun voting in a long time, and even looked at some of the bad ones for more than 20 seconds. Van |

Well... there was at least one person out there that didn't like what you had to say

I believe "Art may not be biology" is directed towards you :) |

My statement did reference his comment. But I do tend to look at things out of the box and I realize most people would not think the way I stated in the post.
Plus, when I came across the picture during voting, I hadn't even gotten any specific "reproduction" references myself, and actually voted probably a couple points lower than if I had made the connection at first. I totally believe that the pic didn't meet the challenge as *well* as many others (if the photographer was going for the idea of reproduction there are better ways to do it) and I do totally support vtruan's comment. |

I found your comment. You commented on the title not the image, not helpful at all.

The wheat seed pod didn't look natural to me, (i.e. the green appeared off colored, the angle should have been verticle, etc.) So the grade to me was okay for the photo and title was just what I mentioned. Just what I saw. Van |

I, for one, was pretty happy just to not get an F... Although, if this were actually school, anything less than a 92 and I would be sick LOL
Glad you had some fun :-) |

While I generally appreciate all comments, I thought your comment was based solely on the "Biology" component rather than the photo. That's totally your prerogative, but since you asked... :D
You commented "a stick of dynamite would work better. D+"
That, to me, says you thought the chance of "catching" a fish with the tools portrayed in the photo, were slim. Of course a stick of dynamite would work better. The use of an oversized shiny hook, barely baited, and overstated white string (instead of fishing line, which I own plenty of) was meant to be humorous and appear to be something a kid might do.
In essence, I thought you "graded" based on the realism of the biology rather than anything to do with photography at all.
In the end, it's all cool - I was pleased overall with the score, and most comments were what I thought I would hear (blurry, cute, poor worm, etc...). :D |
