I played it on PC for a while. Reeeaaally slow on my computer though, and I thought it felt a bit clumsy. Definitely one of those games which is designed for consoles then just clumped over onto the PC with no thought about interface changes etc. Saying that, it was really good fun for ages, but then it started getting a bit repetitive. That's the point when the nude patch gets installed :P

I'm sure it was actually designed and made for the PC, then ported over to the consoles.
I liked it, it's great being able to literally raom wherever you like in a beautiful world. Can be a little tiresome after a few weeks though.
As Konador said, if you've got a good comp, you'll really like it.

If it was designed for the PC then it's designed baaaad, hehe!

Speaking of console ports... do you still have Frets on Fire installed? I just finished making my first track for it! Unzip to data/songs :)

Oh, gotta love Elderscrolls!
I started with Daggerfall (anyone played this? "Vengeance!!!!")
and even played all those side-series...
and then continued into Morrowind, but alas didnt touch Oblivion because the system requirements scares me.

Actually it was designed with the 360 in mind. I played it on the 360 for a couple of weeks. Very, very, very time consuming. Very in depth.

I started playing this on Xbox 360 ages ago. If you like RPGs, you'll love this. It's extremely detailed (NPCs who take lunch breaks on schedule, days passing into nights and turning into morning while you're outside, crickets at night and birds in the morning etc). Great game if you can devote half your free time to it. :P

All I know is that Elder Scrolls: III had my former roomate pre-occupied for about 2 yrs. I think he logged a few hundred hours into that game.

That said, it's a role-playing game foremost and not an action game. In III it was a simply slash slash, nothing fancy.

That said, I was amazed by the fact that nearly every object was an item. You could walk through hundreds of homes stealing silverware and pottery, etc. and selling it to the vendors.

I think IV scaled back things a bit but endeavored to add more features on the action end.

I burnt up MANY hundreds of hours with Elder Scrolls III. I heard about this Oblivion release but haven't got it yet. I am waiting for the price to come down a bit. Elder Scrolls III is a resource hog but I have a fairly good computer and video card as I fly online with MS Flight Simulator 2004 (FS9) at VATSIM (Virtual Air Traffic Simulator) and I need pretty serious resources for that.

Let us know how you like Oblivion. If we don't hear from you for several weeks, we will figure it is pretty good. LOL

hijack - i'm currently hooked on the GTA III (Grand Theft Auto) series. the whole city is alive! it's pretty cool as you're not restricted by the city and people living in it, almost plays like an RPG!

You definitely need a pretty decent machine to play Oblivion, unless you want to turn the graphics way down.

The game will keep you addicted for a long time. There is so much to do, so many places to explore.

I've been playing Oblivion for... 3 months already! Tho not everyday (it's installed on my work PC, hehe), and it's quite addictive game! I love the A.I. - it's pretty clever and always has something to surprise you.

there used to be a bug in TES2 where if you loiter around in a shop until its closing time, the owner will go to sleep eventhough you're still inside the shop, and you could take EVERYTHING free! (i usually sell them back to him the next morning!)

Well I started to play it-- getting the graphics tuned in is a chore..
I dont have to play it on 1440x900, but being i got a widescreen display thats what Im tweaking ---(800x600)_(1024x768) just looks crappy--
I have distance lands on, trees- buildings on, medium texture size, and tweak the distance of em all and getting around 35-55 fps (accroding to FRAPS), which is quite playable.
I cant stand walking though, I have to mostly run (maybe Im used to FPSooters).
With that said Imma out of the sewer and just embarking on my adventure, lol
