Exact same thing happened to my son. If you do have a valid PP account you need to report this to them. |

Paypal, ebay (I think) and credit card companies will address you by your name, not Dear Customer, etc.
I don't even have a paypal account or ebay account in my name and I get 4or 5 a month of these things. |

It's a scam. Paypal never ever start an e-mail with Dear Paypal.valued customer.
Plus, if you have no Paypal account, why get worried about it? Just bin it with all the other junk mails. |

BE AWARE that there are new phishing scams that appear to be from places like ebay, paypal, dell, etc, that DO address you by your name, or by your email address.
I received one of these, it addressed me by name, and I thought it was real. Fortunately, I know NEVER to click on anything in an email like that, so went to the actual website and found out that it was a phishing thing.

Paypal would never email you this and if they did a copy would be in your account messages. If you want to play it safe just login and check your messages.
If you have already visited the phony site change your ebay and paypal passwords IMMEDIATELY. (if you provided any account info that is)

This type of scam doesn't just pertain to paypal but to just about every financial institution out there so best to visit the site via your own bookmark and never use the links found in such emails. |

Both Paypal and eBay have security departments setup that you can forward these fraudulent emails too. You should contact Paypal and let them know and verify with them that no fraudulent activity has occured within your account. Best to change all passwords linked to the account as well.
Good Luck! |
