I want a second camera that i can take to places that i wouldn't take my SLR, ie to the pub and anywhere that i'm worried about losing or breaking my SLR.
Therefore a compact seems ideal i'm looking to spend around £100, i know thats not a lot but as i say i'll be taking it to places where it's safety is not always guaranted. lol

So anyone out there with any ideas let me know.
Cheers.

I bought a Pentax Optio WP for that reason ... it's waterproof. I take it in the pool, in the ocean, in the rain, etc. If I drop it in the sand, I just rinse it off. I've even spilled a pint on it and just washed it off -- and then the only thing I needed to curse myself for was spilling the pint! :) It's got a really solid aluminum housing, 3x optical zoom but no protruding lens, etc. OK, it doesn't take very good high-ISO/low-light pictures, but well-lit pictures are very usable as snapshots (4x6, 5x7).

The Pentax Optio WP's water proofness sounds good and in its defense ill tell u about the Optio M10.

The Optio M10 is a super slim 6 MegaPixel with a 3x zoom it has a large 1/2.5" sensor larger then most point and shoots and even some of the better Fuji SLR-Like Camera's. This results in very low noise. Its capable of ISO 400 and has a very low noise compared to any point and shoott hat olympus makes. You can get one for 120 US Dollars which is less then 100 sterling pounds or opt out for the new 7MP M20 for 200 US dollars. The names might vary.

Either model is very slim has super low noise for a point and shoot has a large 3 inch screen is fast and easy. It has many modes but Manual isnt one of them! High ISO with low noise may sound good but be prepared to hold it still as hell! Id recommend somethign with ISO 800 and in that case onto my next recommendation.

Looking for high iso? The Fuji F30 provides ISO 3200 at full resolution and does better with image noise at ISO 3200 in JPEG then its upper end ISO 3200 Camera's do in raw.
