has anyone else who has used this camera noticed it producing pictures that are not very focused? even with manual focus and auto focus, its hard for me to get a good unblurry shot, im using the 40-150mm lens, im pritty sure it dose the same thing with the 14-45, since i am new at digital slrs, im thinking i have it programmed wrong since im not to used to ISO, metering and everything else, but to my knowledge i have it set up right. if u wanna see some shots add me on msn cause im a free member on here and cant put them on. I'd suggest that you join Oly fourm for some great feedback and nice people to help you out with your new camera. I know some folks who have it and love it. I've had the same 2 lens with 2 different bodies, the E300 and the E1 and I'd bet the weak link in the equation right now might be you.

Hiya Jimbo, What settings are you using for focus? S-AF, C-AF, MF, S-AF+MF or C-AF+MF? Whats you AF focus area are you using? If your using it in MF and the images still come out OOF I wonder if you have your diopter set right (The + and - up by the eyepiece)

Jimbo,

I just got that 40-150 lens for Christmas and the only trouble I have with it's focus is when I'm zoomed all the way out. But that is probably cause the subject is out of focus range. In manual focus it doesn't take but a touch to knock it out of focus at that range. I have no problems with my other lens (17.5-?) I mostly use them in S-AF+MF (cause I really don't trust my eyes) but have been known to go with c-af.

Sorry I couldn't be more help, I'd show you samples of what I've been getting but since I'm at work the only images available is being voted on right now and sitting in the best of feb waiting to be voted on.

most of the time im on S-AF+MF, because i like the old fashon style of being able to manually focus it, i did go on just S-AF today, i was jumping between both because s-af was taking to long to focus because i was following a herd of deer around in a woods today, the pictures come out clear, but there just not, fine focused. the camera is on auto so i dont touch the aperture or shutter speed, i know that could cause a bit of blurr since i wasnt on a tripod or nothin, mainly freehand, the photos were taken with digital esp metering, rather now to think of it i should of used spot or center instead.

i just checked the diopter, it was a click off,

this happens with the 40-150, i checked my pictures with the 14-45 and they are more crisp, my assumption is it being a freehand shot and the shot was zoomed all the way out. im starting to think the closer i am the crisper it is + i know i shake alot. thanks for the replys:)

On the first photo it looks like the tree behind is in perfect focus, I would suggest spot metering and using the center dot focus. If they are stationary you can use S-AF but if your trying to get them while they are on the move I would use C-AF. On the second shot spot metering on the deer would have really helped out to brighten up their faces. Just takes practice, lots of it!:)
