OK folks, we talked about it last fall. Now lets try to get a GTG in the St. Louis Area organized. Warm weather will be here soon and I'd like to go shooting. I'm thinking maybe a St. Louis Zoo or Missouri Botanical Gardens GTG sometime this spring. If your interested post here with ideas for when/where/what time we can do this. I'm pretty open on where, and when is just dependant on my schedule.

*****UPDATE******

OK folks it looks like we are going to do a GTG the weekend of April 14th-15th. I'm looking for a start at the St. Louis Zoo on Saturday morning meet up close to the front at between 9am and 10am. We will work that detail out later. I'm not sure on how many are coming or who all they are bringing so we need to work on getting the best time for everyone. After we shoot a bit I'll have to stop and get my little one food, he has to eat every couple of hours or trust me you all would kick me out of the group in a hurry. :-)

When we get done at the zoo I will likely bow out of the GTG depending on how tired my little one gets. The plans after that are up to everyone else, from what I take some would like to go to Forrest Park which is right next to the zoo, some would like to go downtown. Its pretty open. I'd like someone to step in and set up the rest of the GTG for when I wont be with you all, that way there is some sort of direction and not so much wasted time trying to decide what to do. Anyway please PM me if your up for the GTG and I'll make a list here for those that plan to attend.

MattO

PLEASE NOTE DUE TO INCLIMATE WEATHER FORCASTED WE ARE MOVING THE GTG TO SUNDAY AT 10AM. I HOPE EVERYONE IS ABLE TO ACCOMODATE THE CHANGE. NO NEED FOR US ALL TO GET SICK IN THE SNOW AND RAIN. SEE YOU ALL SUNDAY.

I would be interested, depending on the date. Both are excellent places to shoot.

I'm in. I have a membership to the botanical gardens so both places are free for me. I frequent both places a lot.

Historic St. Charles is a good spot. During warm weather people come out in period costumes showing different wares and how they are made. Last year they built a small church in a old french style. The logs are verticle. Which I found really interesting. Year before last I got a photo of a older woman spinning wool. They try to do a lot of events there to bring more people out. My favorite event is the quilt show and civil war reenactment in Sept. I like to target craft fairs and harvest events in the surrounding towns. But the fall is best for that.

There is Faust Park and the butterfly house.
Shaw Nature Reserve (down by Grey Summit)

Whatever you decide is fine with me. Just throwing out some ideas.

When is opening day at Busch Stadium? If I can find the cash, I'd totally go. I spent a lot of time in St. Louis as a kid.

I would definitely be up for the Zoo. It's free, and a very nice place. (I'm a bit biased by the fact that it's within walking distance and I have no car)

I'm in. Let me know when and where. I don't have any grand ideas about places to shoot. My Merimac "Advanced, In-field Photography" course has field-trips 09:00-12:00 Saturdays April 14, 21, & 28. I could make afternoon times those days.

SO MAKE ALL YOUR PLANS AROUND A NEW GUY!!!! ;) kidding.

Let me know, sounds like fun.

I'd be up for it!! :-) The zoo and botanical gardens (in any city) are some of my favorite things to shoot....yes, I'm a girlie girl.

I'll double check my calendar for weekends that would NOT be good, but so far I'm fairly well open. Had a great time at a Chicago GTG just wandering around the city too and snapping shots.

My only true request--could we try to eat at the Spaghetti Factory?!?! I LOVE THAT PLACE!! And I don't get to eat there very often :-)

If you allow guys from Springfield to join i would enjoy a day of shooting in St Louis. I cant the last weekend in March or the 1st weekend in April. Any of the places you have discussed sound great to me.

Bump for day 2 and to see how much more interest we can draw. Also someone please help with a tentative date. What day works best for those of you who want to attend? Weekday? weekend? Any particular day weekend best for your schedule. Lets try to get a tentative date for late March early April in the plans.

April would be best for me.
March might be a little difficult.

My only open weekend in March is the 24th. Right now, any weekend in April would work.

April looks better for me. My camera will be in Europe with my wife and daughter from March 23 to April 2nd so those 2 weekends are out for me. As of right now i have nothing else booked in April. Nail it down quick so i can get it on the calender before something else comes up

I'm in for whenever....looks like everyone's leaning toward April sometime.

March 31/April 1 would work for me.

I will be in Maryville MO April 7&8 (Easter weekend).

I have 9am-12noon fieldtrips for photo class April 14, 21, 28 but would be able to join after lunch...or possibly bump into you all on the fieldtrip (I don't have a class itenerary yet).

ETA: so, to be clear we are looking at April 7/8 or 14/15 right?

Last weekend in March is a *possibility* for me, but my husband will be leaving to go out of town for a week on that saturday, so I'd be a little sad not to spend that extra time with him.....though maybe not sad enough to miss a GTG if that's the only weekend we can do it ;-) He knows I love him.

April is pretty clear and free for me so far.

May is also pretty clear EXCEPT for the weekend of May 11th (when I walk through my graduation!!)

Weekends are the only thing that would work for me cause I live in Illinois.

BTW, griz210--I'll probably be driving through Springfield if you wanna grab a quick breakfast at Hardees or something and caravan down.

Does anyone have any conflicts with April 14th and/or 15th?

Just narrowing down the field...from what everybody is saying.
02/22/2007 10:49:28 AM · #22
I have no conflicts on the 14/15 and the weekend before is Easter so I think maybe thats the best weekend to have it. Anyone object if not we will aim for this weekend.
