Kivet ... think Vitamin E ... not cream with it IN it but pure Vitamin E oil. You can go to the pharmacy and get gelatin Vitamin E oil suppliment capsules that you can swallow. Just prick them with a pin and slather it around. It cannot hurt and doctors STILL don't know why it works so well on burns. They slather it on all types of burns in the hospital these days. Great for keeping the ouchie air from it and scar reduction too.
MANY MANY years ago, I had a huge spill from a commercial french-frying machine (360 degrees purified lard) all over my right foot. I thought I was gonna DIE! What intense pain!

Hate to do this guys - but I just realized my membership is up in less than 1 month.
As I'm a full-time mom with no income, I'll have to be bowing out of Team Suck by the looks of it.
Might be able to look at joining back up after taxes are done if we get a refund though. But that's not until April or so. |

kashi, I think you can still be a user for free. You just can't enter the "Member" Challenges. You can still enter the open challenges. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. |

True, but I'm pretty sure that you lose your portfolio when you aren't a registered (paid) member.
And I think there is a difference in voting privileges too.

I just got an entry into "Love II". I'm predicting a middle-of-the road score, as I didn't go to a lot of set-up effort on it. I'm enjoying the comments received on Street - am learning a lot about what I would do / try next time. What a great site this is. |

Before you just walk away, I would check with SC. |

I wouldn't walk away from DPC as a whole - I enjoy it here and have learned SO much. But if I can only participate in open challenges, I'd walk away from Team Suck so as to allow an open spot for someone who could participate more fully. |

Why? There are other non-members in the group. It's not a requirement. And your portfolio would only be hidden until you can join again. |

Personally, I think we should streamline the process and have an option something like this.
Vote for all participants in this challenge:
[1] (default)
[2]
[3]
[4]
[5]
[6]
[7]
[8]
[9]
[10]
Thank you for voting on this challenge.

I just now replied too. Is an interesting thread I think. |

Because I thought it would benefit the "team" more to have a more active participant.
But it's all moot now - as I have received a very generous gift from Mary of an extra year here.
Many thanks.

Ill never be the same ill tell you that. I was almost afraid to boil water this morning. Anyway wanted to whine a bit and warn anyone who buys and makes donuts out of Fry Bread to be warned to cover them when they are frying.

Ouch, hopefully it isn't too serious. Did you have to go the the hospital to be treated for the burns? |

actually i havent been seen by any doctors yet. i went up to the clinic here in town on sunday right after it happened and the on call person came in with a really bad attitude and basicly told me this wasnt an emergency and why did i waste her time calling her up there when we could take care of it with stuff from the grocery store pharmacy. so we left and have doctored it ourselves so far. i have an appointment today finally so maybe i can get back to work tomorow.

Doctors with bad attitudes are the worst! I hope you aren't in too much pain.
I got a grease burn at work when I was in college (the gravy at Burger King is super HOT prior to being doled out to the customer) that required a trip to the emergency room, a huge bandage on my hand for 2 weeks, and 2 weeks (paid !) time off of work. |

Ouch, Kivet! Hope you heal up soon. Stuff like emu oil is supposed to be good for burns. And take a daily multivitamin too, help boost the healing.
Jayson, you were right...I was *nonexistent* on the Fotolia site but now I exist!!! Woohoo! I am still snaffles, so just enter that on the Fotolia search field and you can admire *both* pix in all their glory (til I get more uploaded).
I may have an idea for acronym but I have to get someone's permission to take his picture first...hmmm...may have to resort to bribery...
Oh yeah do have a pic for Trees but it's sooo boring I don't know if it's worth entering. After all i can't do anything more than rotate and resize it.
*Impatiently waiting for Wednesday* so I can see what new challenges are posted...and how my Hate pic does...must try what levyj suggested and get to flattening things. Another PS function to explore and learn how to use!

As some of you may have read i was away last weekend in the UK for my and my mums birthday party. I returned yesterday but on Saturday night just as the party was winding up my step dad (a few drinks to the worse) triped on a scaffold pole and smashed his head on said pole. Much blood was spilled and he ended up in hospital getting checked over.
While he was released i have just got a call to say he has been taken back to hospital with suspected bleeding on the brain and had a minor stroke. :-(
Turns out the scoring in these challenges is not so important after all.
Silverfox, hope it was a nice comment? ;-)

I just took a look snaffles, those are some bold images. I am sure they will do well in stock.
You must enter your tree entry. Mine is horrible. Actually I really like it, but only if I do some post adjustments which of course isn't allowed.
My Biology entry is doing fairly well at a 5.8, but I absolutely hate the image. It's a cheap image and I wouldn't even consider it photography. It's a bummer since it is going to go on my front page here soon.
On the other side my Street image started off strong, but now is at a 5.6. Pretty good, and I like it considering I did not spend that much time with it. Not very many comments though.
I need to be find myself. Most of the Team Suck members have a prevalent style. I just haven't found mine yet. Maybe one day it will come. |

For those of you who have never used the lighting effects available in PS under "render" I highly recommend. I just start using them, and they really can make a lousy image quite decent. This photo was just terrible straight from camera, and while it isn't a prize-winner now, either, I used a flashlight effect that made a huge difference:
To try these out, go to Filter, Render, then Lighting Effects. Lots of fun! |
