Anyone know what the best software is to back up a Dvd?

DVD Xcopy was the best but you can no longer find it new unless it is on ebay.

DVD shrink is a good free program if you can find it.

I use a combination of "Any DVD" as a decoder and "Roxio" as a burner program. This will decrypt any DVD movie and can compress down to fit on to a standard DVD disk. Then it is able to play back in any DVD player or DVD Rom. . Unfortunately they only sell 'Any DVD HD' now and it is priced at $79.00 US. But can be used for regular DVD or HD DVD and a lot more.

I have DVD Xcopy, but it conveniently is not working now that they are offering a "update" version. I have DVD shrink...do you have to have a bruning program to burn with it?

Yes you need a burner program with DVD shrink. As well as a decoder or a decrypter program for any comercial DVDs. DVD shrink is used to compress a full sized DVD to fit on to a standerd 4.7 gig DVD disk.

Any DVD and Clone DVD which are both made by the same company can make perfect backups of 99% of all the movies out there.

DVD shrink id only use if your using 4.7 GB disks REMEMBER Movie DVD's are DUal Layer 8.5GB disk they are not the same as a DVD-R

I have DVD Decrpytor for the ripping...I guess I will download Nero 7 Demo for the burner. I read that DVD Shrink can directly access the Nero Burner from the DVD Shrink interface.

Thats correct. If you dont have Nero, you cannot use DVD shrink.

BTW, I thought it was still illegal to make copies, even if you claim that they are backups
