I think it's going to be a way to throw Alex and Addison together and see something in each other other than the prettiness. (I also thought it was the only good plot thread in the last episode.) |
Nah, Alex isn't as nutty as Izzy ;) (Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Izzy, she is just a little crazy sometimes) I'd be willing to bet that you are right on the money about Alex wanting into the gynocology field though. Do you really really think that Addison (brilliant, beautiful, intelligent) is going to end up with someone like Alex? I just don't see that happening... but they might have a HOT STEAMY fling!! THAT would be interesting ;) hehehe
Is Izzy ever going to be normal again?? |

They retitled it Valerie's Family the next season and announced that she had died inside sixty seconds of that first episode - just to spite her so she couldn't come back. Anyway, it's been done before. But there would be about a million rumors about Ellen Pompeo leaving the show circulating if Meredith was slated to die. The whole world would already know. |
Good point! I had forgotten about that show... and the scandalous way they ousted her LOL |

I think this whole series is the start of that... they've let her grieve for a while, and she was able to observe for the past few episodes. This seems like the way to sort of put her back into the swing of things and get her character back on track.

Taken from Grey's Writers Love the site, and loving the show even more... I can't wait wait for tonight. Only 30 more mins!!
The stuff written below may contain some spoilers for people who have not seen the past few episodes maybe...
Shonda on "Walk on Water"
Holy crap, am I glad it is my turn to blog again! I have missed it, let me tell you! How is everyone? You still out there? Still good?
Or are you yelling and screaming at your TV sets and cursing my name for throwing Meredith into the water and then rolling the credits on you?
I donât blame you for the cursing. But please remember that next week, things get even more interesting and then the week after that, they get REALLY interesting. I donât want to talk about it. Or give anything awayâ¦.
Which means thereâs not much I can blog about. Damn it. I can tell you that this episode (as well as the next) was directed by the famous Bossy McBossy Rob Corn. And that before he had a script, he kept coming into my office to say in that quiet, calm voice of his: âYOU. ARE. KILLING. ME.â
See, itâs that time of year again. That time of year when I get all sick and flu-y and my brain goes stupid and so I start to lie face down on the carpet in my office threatening to flee the country because my ability to write has clearly leaked out of my ear while I was sleeping. Every year, like clockwork, it happens. And every year, like clockwork, it takes me by surprise. Youâd think Iâd learn. But I donât. I donât learn.
So Bossy McBossy is waiting for pages and Iâm gathering my passport and calling the airports and Betsy (who sits in the office next to mine and keeps me sane) very kindly keeps coming in to remind me that I have pitched the entire 3 episode arc to her eight or nine times in vivid detail over the past five months. All I have to do, she says (using, I might add, the exact same voice one uses with a three year old who wonât give you the sharp objects in her mouth), all I have to do is WRITE DOWN the things I have pitched her. All I have to do PUT THEM ON PAPER.
HA!
Everyone knows the key component of serious, rampant procrastination is the inability to put anything on paper.
Okay, I am actually procrastinating by writing about procrastinating. On to the point, which is this: Rob Corn worked his behind off shooting this episode with pages being fed to him as he shot and for that, I will no longer be referring to him as Bossy McBossy. Instead from this moment on, I will call him by his new tribal name: Shoots With No Script.
Now, Shoots With No Script will tell you that I had very definite ideas about this episode. And I did. But they were all character-based. They were all about Meredithâs attitude and the little girl and Izzie and her tub of butter and Cristina and the notion that, in choosing to marry, she fears that she is LITERALLY being left behind in more ways than having to stay at the hospital while everyone goes to the accident site. They were all about Derek and Burke and their conversation about âthese womenâ and Richard and his badly dyed hair. My thoughts were all about disappearing.
They were not about things that Shoots With A Script needed to know. They were not, for instance, about what the ferry should look like when we first see it. Because, if you know anything about me, you know I donât want to think about hurting a ferry boat. I, like McDreamy, have a thing for ferry boats. Ferry boats are awesome and, in fact, very safe. Ferry boats are amazing.
Ferry boats are a metaphor for Meredith, you know.
What I was interested in was Meredith and how she was doing after being hurt by her mother. And the devastation of the ferry boat was the best way to physicalize Meredithâs pain.
The little girl? Sheâs also a metaphor for Mer. A motherless lost girl who canât speak for herself and disappears? Okay, thatâs too obvious. But you all know Meredithâs been doing a dance with death for some time. Yâall know that if youâve been watching. Sheâs dark, our girl. Sheâs dark and twisty. And I worry about her.
Now, Iâm really worried about her because sheâs in the water and I want to be clear with you: I donât put people in the water for no reason. Meredithâs got issues, sheâs got serious Mommy issues and sheâs broken and sheâs in the water.
I killed Denny. I blew up Dylan.
Iâm not entirely playing by the rules of TV here.
Thereâs a point. And itâs coming. Shoots With A Script and I have our fingers and toes crossed that it works.
Because what happens nextâ¦well, just wait and seeâ¦
Okay, I rambled and I procrastinated and I should just stop writing and let you go ahead and yell at me nowâ¦

I worked on the show for about 5 months.
What the great writing doesn't show is the disfunctional personalities behind the camera.
I could of been the show today, in theory this would of been my second season. However, my immeadiate boss was a jerk.
One of my co-workers is a meth-head.
Another co-worker smoked pot all day long and thought he was one of the bosses.
The cast is great, but they too have their disfunctions.
The show is good, but remember the human break downs behind the scenes.

I just watched. Is she really going to die?? Does anyone know?
In my opinion, Izzy is losing her marbles. Too much crazy monolog for her. It was a good episode and a total cliff hanger. |

Nah, she can't die! If she does, what will they call the show?? LOL I believe Izzy just got a refresher as to WHY she wanted to be a doctor in the first place :) She is by far the smartest one of them all LOL
I would kill to be in the movie industry American_Horse :P

What a great episode! My lip started to quiver when George started to cry when they were all waiting outside Meredith's door. I don't see them killing off the main star and the show's namesake at the height of its popularity, but the opening scene where she's drowning was done really well. Very eerie. |

How about a bet?? Everyone gets ONE guess. My guess:
The Chief. He dies.
I don't know how or why but I do know the ol' bait-and-switch. People unexpectedly die when you're busy watching someone else you think is going to die instead - it's true in real life too. And he's been wanting to retire and isn't an integral part of any story line anymore since they're clueing up all of his relationships. |
