John Constable, English painter, once said:
There is nothing ugly; I never saw an ugly thing in my life: for let the form of an object be what it may, -- light, shade, and perspective will always make it beautiful.
Beauty comes in many forms. But for me, I have found an amazing and wondrous power in great images; there's something that draws me into a picture, and moves me in ways words can rarely hope to surpass.
My adventure with photography started few years back when I̢۪ve got my first digital camera for Christmas. Next day I photographed everything and everyone at home and in the neighborhood. I had such a wonderful time. Photography was my new destiny!
With a great enthusiasm I̢۪ve traveled across the country to find fabulous landscapes, interesting sites and beautiful flowers.
20,000 picture or so later, to my disappointment, my work wasn̢۪t displayed in any galleries and museums. People didn̢۪t seem to share my excitement about my photographs. Well, the great artists were never understood by they contemporaries.
But after while I realize that taking picture is not only a point and shoot exercise.
It requires a tremendous deal of knowledge not only about technical aspects of the camera but also about the things I wanted to photograph.
So I started again. I learned how to use my camera properly, I read a lot of books, I subscribed to photographic magazines, attended many workshops.
My photography started to change. Now I was on a quest for light, shade, and perspective to make my pictures beautiful.
I have spent countless hours behind my camera and never felt tired or bored. I have learned how to be patient.
Making pictures forces me to look more carefully at the world, and I'm constantly amazed by the things I can find around me. Small bugs barely the size of my fingernail. I observe spider webs, birds flying across the sky. I get up early to see the sunrise through the mist. Every sunset is a miracle.
Photographs are small "pieces" of time which will never age and never forget the moment in which they were made.
That̢۪s why I shoot! That̢۪s why I̢۪m so passionate about photography!
What about you?

i dunno... i'm like you were not to long ago, eva, and yet, like you are now... i see amazing beauty where others can't seem to find it, and i love to be able to show them what i see... i just need to get a hold of the technicallities...that, and photography is a lot quicker than doing manga :)...
edit: also, my family isn't the type to stop and smell the roses. i, being the more sensitive of three boys, tend to enjoy being able to take it easy and slow...photography is right up my alley because the only reason i need to hurry is to make sure i don't miss my sunset :)...
