Chronic anxiety, panic attacks, and depression are a part of my everyday habit. I sit around the house alone everyday while my children go to school and my wife works. Looking at the same four walls day in and day out. Wondering why, why me! ......I feel as if I have let them down along with my friends because of my problems, physically and mentally.

You know going to doctor after doctor month after month year after year trying to find out what is wrong becomes depressing after a while and that̢۪s what happened to me.

*big hugs* Scott! You are not a bad person for thinking of yourself and needing to get out of this. You don't know how much I feel your pain. I have a severe phobia that makes me afraid to go out, and afraid to eat. I have panic attacks on a daily basis, and I am so depressed. Please know that you are not alone in this. It is a horrible struggle, but you will get through it.

I went to doctors, had tests done, took all kinds of meds... just to see why I was sick in the stomach everyday! NOTHING! They all told me I was nuts and it was in my head. Luckily, I found a therapist who is getting on the right track. It's all my nerves and depression that are making me ill. We are slowly working on it... and I will be triumphant!

And I know that you will too! Keep your chin up and please take care of yourself. You are in my thoughts.

*hugs*

nsoroma79 that was a very nice sentiment. I'm sure Scott could use the encouragement. That might be worth a PM in case he finds this thread daunting with its many directions =) no thanks to me.

I have read her post and greatly appreciate it as well as all other that have posted here. I have also been keeping up with this thread and I am truly grateful for everyone̢۪s effort in keeping the WPL going. I commended all of you! Thanks justamistere for helping out and donating your time.

I had a doctor̢۪s appointment yesterday, today, and tomorrow. I'll be back one day and hope all of you will allow me to participate in the WPL when that day comes. Till then I will take it one day at a time, one challenge at a time, and do a lot of praying.

Again thanks to everyone.
Scott

Scott, I'm just coming across this thread and I must say that my hat's off to you brotha!!! You've done a great thing with the WPL and I say that it's something that I dearly needed. I wasn't going out and competing in challenges, had lost my DPC get-up-and-go. So I joined a team and now I have incentive to go out every week and compete in at least one challenge. I have a new sense of dedication because I don't want to let my team down. Keep your chin up and thanks again!!!!

Hey Scott,

DPC has obviously realized what a valuable service you provided and will hopefully pick up the burden of maintaining the WPL.

Most of all, thanks for your work! - you've single handedly created a lot of fun and competetive spirit for a lot of people!

Going forward, if you continue to play with web development, remember to do it for fun and don't let it stress you out! Remember that your family and your health come first.

Also, feel free to email me any time. =)

Cheers,
-Jeff

You are a good man...and a good friend. I am glad that you were there in the beginning cause for without you the WPL would have flopped fast. You have been through many trials in the past years and even months and you don't need anything else weighing you down. You have laid down such a structure for the WPL that it will be easy to integrate it in to DPC, well besides the coding. I just want to say thank you one more time, because I have never been a part of something so wide spread before. Well done.

Scott,

You didn't ask to be sick. You want to support your family but there are ways beyond going to work and making money. Our culture says you have to do that in order to have value. Our value is seen as what we produce or what we wear or what we drive. But that's not it.

Depression, anxiety... I know what that's like. And it is natural for us to turn inwards and think of ourselves and our pain. But it really helps us heal in some ways to help others. And I am not talking about going out and having a job. I am talking about, when your wife comes home from work, asking about her day. Telling her you appreciate her. And that stuff is valuable too. Sometimes... a lot of times... every time, honestly, that is more important than money.

It is so easy, when our good health is taken away, to become bitter. To ask "why me". I know I have done my share. But accepting our illnesses allows us to not only be happier ourselves but also to bring more joy into people's lives. I bet your family, because they love you, would rather have you be happy about who you are - not unhappy about who you think you should be. And your happiness enriches their lives. There are, sometimes, small things that you can do physically to contribute even when you think you can't -- but even if you were completely imobile, unable to do things like type or even move, the world is better because you are here.

You have so much to contribute to the world. Many people on this site have testified to that, and I think that just scratches the surface of what and who you are.

Do not think about what you "should" be. Be the best person you can be with what you have today. Don't blame yourself for "letting people down". Just try to build up as much as you can, and when you are exhausted and can't do any more, be okay with that. You wouldn't beat yourself up for having a blood type that could only donate to a small portion of the population, versus being a universal donor, would you? You can't change that, and you can't change your illness.

I can see from the post that you have written that you care very much. That is such a wonderful thing. I am not involved in WPL and you made *me* feel cared about. I think that is a wonderful gift!! You have been sick and you still continue to think of others. So that proves what I have been saying, Scott. Do not feel as though you have let people down. You have been helping build people up and I know that if you can do that for me - if you can enrich *my* day, my life - then I truly believe that you have nothing to worry about as far as your family is concerned.

God created you with worth before you even lifted a finger to do anything the world would consider productive or valuable. He clothes the lilly and cares for the sparrow, who do not need to worry - and how much more so does he care for you!

Hugs and prayers.
-Kelly
