I totally suck at it in anything beyond beginner, but I never have been musically inclined. My problem is-- I curl my pinky on the fret board, so the blue buttom is hard for me to press, any tips from the GH pros? |

Practice scales over and over. The pentatonic minor and the major scales are good ones for the pinky.
WHAT A VIDEO GAME! Got no advice for that except to get a real guitar. Video game sheesh!!!! :-|

My son's getting one for Xmas. He's a pretty established guitar player in his own right, so I'm curious to see how this thing goes. He's played it at a friend's house and loved it. |

Ohhh that is one of my sons (KagatoAsuka) most popular games. He has Guitar Hero I and II. He plays only the expert and hard modes and gets four to five stars on every song. Except Freebird (on guitar hero II) he can only get three stars on expert.

I have a freeware version called Frets on Fire for the PC, which you can import Guitar Heroes 1 & 2 songs into. You pick up the keyboard like a guitar and use F1-F5 and enter, its great fun! Free Bird had me fooled, I thought it seemed well easy at the start but then it gets crazy towards the end! I can play a few pretty well (5 stars) on Amazing difficulty, Black Sabbath War Pigs and Iron Man, as well as sometimes Hendrix's Spanish Castle Magic, but a lot of the others are far too tricky. I normally play it on the level before Amazing and average 4 stars on most tracks.
I love this game!!! |

Well, I just bought a PS2-USB adaptor off ebay, and a Guitar Hero Gibson SG controller! No more looking like a prat with the keyboard, now I can play FoF in style! Should make that Pulp Fiction track easier too, as now I can double pick! I also bought a Dance Mat to go with Stepmania DDR, hehe. Gotta love ebay :P Can't wait till Monday! hehe
If anyone wants to compare scores on FoF I'm up for a mini-competition! I have also started creating tracks myself. I've done Guns 'N Roses - Live & Let Die if anyone wants it!

My son Fetor is a Guitar Hero pro. Expert level.
He just told me that it just came out on xbox 360 too!

My son is on the right. This is him and a friend of his Bob Garas in Florida having some Guitar Hero fun.
Pretty sweet little game really.
edit* My 9 year old daughter is now a guitar hero pro. LOL

I'm with ya on that one... + learn sweep picking for some killer riffs.
Ah but I think I got to pick up GH for the 360...which is coming out on March 3 and has some killer songs
...but then again Crackdown is coming out next week for the 360 and it has the HALO 3 beta on it, so I might not make it to GH.
Waz what genre to do you play (guitar)? I have some unfinished rhytyms laying around that I need someone to lay a track or two on top of. |

Doesn't look *too* bad that one, until the end.
I've bought a PS2 and GH2 now, and Freebird is the only one I haven't completed yet on Expert. Not including bonus tracks that is... what's with Buckethead being such a crazy guitarist?!? I don't think I'll ever complete that one!
I have GH1 too, but I'm stuck on the last 2 there, Bark and the Moon and another I can't remember. I don't get on with how the Hammer-ons and Pull-offs work in GH1 though, they're a lot trickier.

Just completed GH1 and GH2 on expert, phew! Freebird isn't too difficult once you get the timing of the repetitive parts nailed :) Bring on the 80s!
