Thanks everyone for listening, sorry I kept your reading so long. I hope my southern grammer has not made you pull out your hair trying to understand what I'm saying :). I consider all of you e-friends and wish you all well. As I bow out I will hold my head high and remember the good times. I hope no one thinks any less of me.

Love to all,

I understand that he's leaving; my question is WHEN. If it's immediately, I see no way that WPL4 can fairly continue because the scoring from last night hasn't been updated, there are challenges currently underway that teams have shot for, etc. If he doesn't feel he can help someone keep it going for at least a week - tutoring through the process of "running" it - we've got a problem and I think it has to be completely called off. There are those who seem to think otherwise and I thought it would be good if Scott could explain clearly what he sees. If he's just GONE, I think WPL4 is dead, even if someone is willing to "take over".

I don't get it Scott, SC has reviewed things over and over and found most of the WPL to be above board. We found one instance of doping, but that doesn't mean the sport is dead.

If anyone wants to help out, I have space for hosting. Frankly, Scott, you should have started a Paypal donate button as soon as season 2 started, I think you would have found your work rewarded.

Even if you had charged $5 per entrant per season, it would have been about $900 in pocket to cover your time and effort. I know people who pay ten times more than that for time spent playing dodgeball with other grown men :/

Southern Gentleman - good luck with sorting stuff out. You shouldn't feel that you are under an obligation here. Also, nothing is perfect - no matter how you feel about your site, it appears to have worked wonderfully well so far.

I hope that you are feeling better soon.

Scott take care of you. That is most important. My thoughts go out to you.

I myself would be happy to help continue WPL I have server space and we could get a new home for it. Maybe it could be merged with PPchallenge or a spin off of some sort. Anyway I got a little cash, space and some know how to help. If more are interested lets give it a go for Scott!

I also would be happy to help in any limited way that I can. If that just means being a numbers grunt to help get the scores updated, so be it.

Scott, don't give up, this is still a worthwhile opportunity.

I've written to Scott too and am more than willing to offer any help I can to keeping WPL going.

Scott, I just want to compliment you on a job well done with the WPL. You've created something that many people have enjoyed and also friendships that go along with team cooperation.

Although I haven't participated much in it (one season), I see it as a wonderful asset to this community.

Whatever your plans for the future, I wish you nothing but the best.

With Southern Gentleman's agreeing, I would like to volunteer, to run it, to take over the helm. Any guidance or assiance to any capacity by the Scott would be thankfully accepted. I wouldn't even mind working as a team if he wanted to in the future.

But only if some of the following people help to "Accurately/Responsibly", update the spreadsheets.
( ericwoo, MAK, eyewave, Hauxon, RainMotorsports, wavelength )
I would also need the spreadsheets in use. I would set up a comercial ISP for the web space. I am not looking to stay as part of the DPC-site, running on the side. He would have to allow me to use the URL "worldphotoleague.com" or I change it.

I would like to keep "Southern Gentleman"'s name on the main page, as the Original Founder.

He's as great as Colonel Sanders. In the last six month's I've met two stay at home fathers, that do that by choice. Society changes, hang in there, you can improve, too, if you really want to. As you see here many others have gone down similar roads, myself included.

AI am a programmer and have DP'e Scott in the past theat I can write software to retrieve/collect data from the dpc-website, into a database or delimited text-file. I work in with Microsoft Software .ASP/SQL-Server/.DBF

So what do Y'all think? (I'm from the North)

I PM'd Southern Gentleman and am awaiting his reply.

Scott, get better. Reach out to the folks who are offering to help online and off. And ignore self-centered schmucks; I won't give one person's ridiculously selfish post credibility by quoting it.

This is just to express my sincerity and willingness to accept the responsibility in helping out. You have my greatest sympathy and understanding and my hope is for you improvement in health. Hang in there and continue striving for what you see as right. "Never give up." Excuse my typos in my original posting, I didn't proofread it.

Scott, you have done a wonderful job and if other personal issues come up, just let others take it over - I was teasing justamistere because he's a buddy of mine ... I'm sure he can help you out though.

Don't worry about the WPL - it is fun but isn't more important than any "real life" stuff. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help Scott.

As I have mentioned before, I don't think you'd have a problem getting people to pay to compete, assuming that some of it goes to a prize or two.

PM me if you want a server to run it on. I can spare the resources for the remainder of this season.

If anyone would like to carry on the WPL i will be glad to send them the excel workbook that holds all the information and formulas to keep the WPL going. You may have to adjust some formulas but it will help the WPL keep running. PM me if you would like the spreadsheets.

ETA: Thanks to everyone for your support, Prayers, and concerns.
SDW

ETA (again): I would love to see DPChallenge introduce the WPL into its format as one user said. I think that would be wonderful.

Scott I have always thought of you as honest and above board, and my opinion hasn't changed. I hope you won't feel bad about your wpl experiment, just chalk it up and move on.

BTW, the best thing I learned from reading your thread was that I can TURN OFF the "Side Challenges and Tournament" forum! (LOL and no offense to all the participants :)

Anyway, be looking for a PM from me, but while I'm here let me state on the public forum that you're a class act and I have the greatest respect and admiration for you.

scott -- telling who the post is addressed to

please check your email -- in case you don't have your email open, and are just reading forums, you need to check it because i've sent you something. OR it could read as -- you should have an email coming to you so be looking for it in case the trolls are eating spam today.

i've opened a ticket -- it is easier to "open a ticket" to discuss something with a member, especially if it is something that the admins or sc needs to "discuss" rather than trying to keep up with a bunch of pm's. this way, it is all in one spot.

wasn't sure exactly what the ??? was for. did this clear it up.

I just wanted to say thanks, Scott. I was a member of WPL for three seasons and decided to take this season off. I don't see how you managed so much for such a long time! You have my greatest respect, thanks, and best wishes. I'm glad you're taking measures like stopping your work with WPL in order to take care of what's important - you and your family. It's been fun and I'm sure this monster league you've worked so hard to create here will continue :-)

Thanks to those of you volunteering to help, too. Even though I'm not participating this season, it's fun to follow along and it's a great way for DPC members to get to know each other better.

Take care of you Scott. The rest will take care of itself, one way or the other. A Very Big Thank You for all you've put into the WPL!! You've done a fantastic job. I'd love to see the WPL continue but not at the expense of your well being.

Hopefully, it will take root and continue to grow with the help of others from the DPC community. It's a great motivator for some of us lazy folk who need a little push now and then. :) And maybe you'll get to enjoy in the competition as well if it does.

Take care,
Jen
