IMHO I think the Wed. challenge should be changed to one member and one open.
I've noticed some erratic voting patterns in open challenges and i strongly feel this is due to ghosting accounts. I have'nt seen this in member challenges. Maybe that's because registered users cannot vote in member challenges.

If you believe or have proof of ghost accounts you should contact Site Council. The forums can't help you there.
That said - the reason there are 2 open challenges each week is because when we only had one open challenge the entries regularly totalled 500+ and users complained that it was too hard to compete / vote with such large groups - so now we have 2, which keeps the average number of entries down.

How the heck do you know anything about anybody's voting patterns?
If you can back this up with facts, you need to point it out to SC and stay out of the forums with it. |

I did'nt make reference to anybody else's voting pattern, if u can site where i stated this, please do so. Failing that, don't make dumb statements.
If only someone could read, they'd have noticed i said IMHO "in my humble opinion". Why don't u stay out of the forums.

Also. I don't have to have to provide proof if it's my opinion.

Actually - you said it was your opinion that there should be more member challenges. THEN you stated "I've noticed some erratic voting patterns....... "
I'm just saying if you've noticed such, you should contact site council.

I would agree. If you have noticed actual patterns to make you feel it is wrong then contact SC. if you are just unhappy with your results and think it must be because of ghost accounts then don't. We all want a fair system so please say something if you trully think it is valid, but wild speculation in the forms does not help anything. |

Pretty insulting language, there, my friend. :) Do me a favor and re-read your initial post as though you were someone else instead of as yourself. You might find you've said some things in a way you perhaps didn't intend.
Peace. No need to be insulting. |

Speculation not! It's based on monitoring voting patterns on submissions in both types of challenges. And results i got was that, the instance was high in non-member challenges. One in particular, I monitord with that spreadsheet thing. I counted 26 one's to 9 ten's.

someone made the point about there being 500 shots per challenge otherwise ...
i don't know about you, but i wouldn't enter free member challenges if there were 500 shots each time!
i think that's the most important reason ... and it's a good one.

I personally enjoy wild speculation in the forums. :-)
I found that caring about votes will drive one to drink (insert joke here).
images that do well here never sell for me - images that are sub-par here have paid for my camera.
I'd recommend you spend more time shooting and less time tracking scores.

The spreadsheet does not actually tell you what votes you've received. The spreadsheet is a mathematical tool to try to show what votes could create your current average. Best way to see what votes you've received is to look at the graph after the challenge. That's a true reflection.

My response to that pretty harsh, i agree. I am truly sorry bernard.
I'm big enuff to understand that an eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind.
That said, this thread seems to be going in an unintended direction. So i nominate to end it.

Folks, please, for the love of all that is cute and furry, if you suspect "ghost" accounts, or the such, please let us know *names* of those that you suspect. There are 50K+ users on this site, do you know how long it would take to check all of those?
Otherwise, you will just have to have confidence in your fellow dpc'ers and the voting thingys that detect irregular voting. I know for those that are a bit more cynical, this is difficult, if not impossible, but please try.
Thank you. |

Understood; we're cool. I didn't mean to sound rude or condescendng by saying "stay out of the forums with it." It's just a preference from SC to not make accusations here as it usually sparks just the kind of argument that does no one any good. I more correctly should have said "SC prefers that you submit your suspicions to them so that they can investigate properly, rather than having to deal with well-intended but distracting banter in the forums about the subject."
My apologies for reacting quickly and non-professionally.
edit for spelling...
