yesterday turned out to be just one of those days. i had a killer assignment in charlottesville to shoot the chairman and ceo of phillip morris announcing a $25m donation to UVa for research, followed by a crappy media shoot for a lacrosse team. the coach so totally treated it as a necessary evil, something to be crammed in before practice. needless to say the results show it. to make matters worse, because of the timing of the shoot, i had to grab beau off the bus and take him with me with nothing for him to do for an hour. after it was over, i asked him what he wanted to do for fun; he said, "take my picture." and this is what i got. made my day.
how the image was captured. i was shooting with my 24-70L f/2.8. i manually set the focus to 3 ft, then set the av to f/7.1. i was in av mode, iso set to 160. the shutter went off at 1/80. my 580ex was handheld, on a cord. the camera was on the ground. it took about 10 tries to get it just right.

Yea Skip, I saw this post the other day but got sidetracked. This image and the story behind it just gave me a big smile. It is so awesome to have family and the love that goes with it. What a great capture that both photographer and model can be proud of. Well done!!! |
