who do i need to pay? and what is the host thing? The Host is who you would pay, there are dozens and dozens, google webhosing and you'll see
Y do i need a lot of storage and what does it matter if there is much traffic or low? You'll need storage to hold the contents of your site, like pictures; higher traffic will help your website show up in web searches
im gonna have low i guess.. just a few visitors if thats the meaning..
if anybody know a good host and things like that please send me there..Remember after you purchase a domain, you still need to build a site... for uber easy hosing and site building, try yahoo
thx
i know its a lot of questions..
p.s.
if i buy a name.. is it mine forever? who decide? the god web? | Most charge an annual fee for you to "keep" the domain name

www.directnic.com and www.godaddy.com are both good and less expensive hosting companies that will also sell you your domain name (www.photoblahblah.com). If you are looking for more space and more features I highly recommend www.1and1.com.

Owning a domain name is not enough. You need a place to store your website. This is what hosting is. The three links I posted above all provide domain name registration and web hosting.

You can register your domain name for one year or more. Most places charge between $5 and $15 each year for your domain name.

I have been happy with purchasing domains at namecheap.com and siteground.com for hosting.

I use Readyhosting. They offer a lot of features for the price. I joined way back when. They have a $99/yr host and a higher-featured $199/year host (SQL, ColdFusion or ASP, etc).
Anyways, not sure if they still do it. But when I signed up they continuously renew the domain name for free. (They also allow you to resell additional hosting account at 50% of the cost. Usually I use this for other domains that I own and a few friends. But it allows basic cost website hosting for $50/yr.)

Here's a post I wrote a few years ago that you may find helpful.

You generally will get a certain allotment of bandwidth. For normal users, you won't exceed them. Sites that get a tremendous amount of visitors can, though. DPC, for example, would likely get more traffic than a normal host would allow with a basic plan. Unless you are super famous or consistently linked from very popular sites like digg, etc., you probably won't need to worry about this.

I have my name with GoDaddy and my site with lunarpages. No complaints at all.

I used 123reg.com to buy my domain name. Will probably use them for hosting too as my site has filled my current ADSL account freespace.
They (as most probably do) allow free mail forwarding, such as sales@yourwebsitename.com too, which looks much more professional than bobsmith76@yahoo.com! |
