You wouldn't run into that error message unless the file finished uploading. And for some reason the script thinks you're uploading a file with no file name... I'm wondering if there's some browser limitation kicking in and ignoring your large file? See if you can zip up 3-5 files and upload them?

I'm browsing off of Opera right now; I'm going to launch FF and see if it helps any.

Ok, I opened FF and I went ahead and selected that .zip folder. Right now, it's just "sending request to dpc.com". I suppose that's the whole uploading part, right?

Just for kicks, how big are the individual files in the .zip? I may have no clue what I'm talking about, so feel free to ignore me.

Yea, I can imagine it will take a good while. Hopefully the browser doesn't time out waiting for it to process. I've never actually tested anything over ~20MB.

Most of them are 1MB in size. They range up to 1.8MB in size.

Well, idk if anyone else has tried a 250MB .zip file. I'll let ya know how it goes, and you can have your first field test. hehe.

Do you mind throwing that 250MB zip at Opera one more time? I made an adjustment that I hope will tell you that you didn't upload any file.

i got that same error a few days ago, too. but i was uploading to DPCPrints. i'm running Firefox.

No prob. let me know if you have any other suggestions or want a guinea pig for any other testing. I'll be more than happy to cooperate, errr, help. :P I'll post here to let you know whether that huge file of mine actually uploads.

Why do you need portfolio photos to be so large? It wouldn't surprise me if it's getting hung up on that, but I know nothing so don't take my word for it.

One more stupid question - did you check your portfolio to see if the photos were there despite the error message? I vaguely recall getting an error message in Firefox awhile back (on a much much smaller .zip), but everything had uploaded fine anyway, so I didn't worry about it.

I like to have my pics as full resolution. Plus, I have plenty of storage on DPC so I haven't worried about it much.

yeah, they aren't there. I'm working on it in FF right now; so it's going to take a while to upload.

The browser your using shouldn't affect the upload speed -- at least not significantly.

i didn't resolve it. i just started over and uploaded the jpegs one at a time.

Yea, it looks like that's the default for our debian package. I've overrode it now if you dare try again. :)

Alright, another update:

I just zipped a file that was <50 MB and Opera started to upload it. I guess the problem the whole time was the size of the .zip folder?

On a related note: what's the largest size that you can view a picture on someone's portfolio on DPC? I guess I can resize all the pics I want to upload to that size.

We currently display a maximum of 800 wide on the image page. A link to the larger version (if it exists) shows up in the details section below the image.

Whew, IDK. I only upload at ~25KB/sec. I'm pretty sure it would take me around 3.5 weeks to upload 250 MB.
