I still remember the elation early on at having two people think I was graphicfunk on a challenge. |

Nobody's EVER mistaken my work for someone else's... Sigh... It happens the other way around, with people who shoot marshes and sunsets taking the rap for being me :-) Poor things...

Hey, Deb? I've MET you can I can testify you are definitely you. Does that help?

Now see if you can pick out my picture in a challenge.... :-) (Hint - it'll probably be one of those you click "5" and move on, then decide long after the challenge is over that it was probably really about a 5.5, which sadly isn't available in the voting lineup.)

If it's a self-portrait, I can. Count on it :-) Otherwise, you are a perfect jack-of-all-trades, so you're hard to pin down. Not boring like me, with the same old purdy sunsets week in and week out, and dreamy skiffs floating in circles on placid marshes by the sea :-)

I'm not prone to self portraits - too darn hard to do the focus thing with those. Did my 30 days worth and that was enough. But I do take it as a sort of compliment that I can't be pinned down. Then again, I don't have access to any skiffs. Castles, maybe, but no skiffs. And muchas gracias for the Free Study score, too! |

Yikes, I'm probably the one he's speaking of. I have few models and have tried to use different people, but in a pinch, I can always count on MYSELF. I know what I can do, I know the mood/emotion I can create, etcetera. I'm rather impulsive, so if I think of something suddenly, the only way I can carry it off right then is to use ME as the model.
Me getting high scores because I'm recognizable? I don't think so. Look at the last Nude. ROFL
I do find it amusing though that my front page and highest scores are of me (my son,and a horse) - now what does that say? It's been over a long period of time, so I don't think it's because "oh we love you and want to give you a high vote," but I was able to convey and execute the shot I intended. |

Well, xXxScarletxXx thinks it is her (gathering from previous posts) and I have used myself quite often here lately... because like you said, I am my best model, I know what I am looking for, and don't stand myself up or act like a drama queen on the shoot :) I do try different things to be anonymous but I feel like I am failing in that dept (people still seem to know it's me) but you are a good photog Jutilda and SPs are your niche IMHO... if that is what you are good at.... keep doing it! I voted on your nude entry and knew it was you... I gave it a 6... and thought to myself, "I'll bet she has a KILLER outtake." LOL
Just don't sweat it... we all have model issues (2 of mine in the last week just didn't bother to show up) and when that happens, we must fall back on ourselves :) |

I am dealing with this with one of my entries for a current challenge. I have numerous comments saying that the comment knows so and so did the shot, or that Congrats on a great shot so and so! For me, I am highly flattered that these people think the shot belongs to one 2 of the best photographers on the site! It actually feels nice that I am being compared to 2 fine photographers!
I for one have my own style. As a professional (and I guess as a hobbyist) you find what works for you. You find a camera angle or lighting technique that works for you and go with it. I am a member on another forum, and there are a few people that ALWAYS know my shots... even when I post anonymous. It's just something about my angles, my PS techniques and so on.
I don't think it's a bad thing at all to find your niche and stick with it. If it works for you, why not??
And yes, there are "popular" people on here... and yes, you can tell by some of their styles who they are. BUT, when I am voting, I don't care who took the photo, I care what the looks like and what it says to me. I have voted down people like Librodo, Pedro, or Quart, or Evi.... and that is because I didn't feel the photo was what I was looking for.
It's all in how you vote. If you vote honestly then fine. But if you vote for those who are well liked... that is your own choice. And you have to live with that!
