I don't know who here is Lutheran, but dang those are some LONG weddings. And I had to feel sorry for the B&G, kneel down, stand up, kneel down, take a shot, stand up...

Today was the first time I ever shot at a Lutheran church and I am EXHAUSTED! I have to say the Lutherans have the Catholics beat hands down on long weddings. I prefer the Southern Baptist wedding (I do, I do, Kiss her) :-)

Oh and my 50mm 1.8 saved my hiney, no flash and dark church, yick.

Amway, I'll post some shots maybe Monday... I'm wore out and have a long day of PARTY ahead of me tomorrow (woohoo Mardi Gras).

I thought it went like this:
Minister, "Do you?"
Bride, "Yes"
Minister, "Do you?"
Groom, "UMMMMM"
Brides father holding shotgun, "YOU BETTER!!!!"
Groom, "Yes"

Recessional...

At least, that's how mine went ;)

Did someone say Mardi Gras???

LOL... I have now grown new respect for your denomination. I must say the girls at the wedding had some well defined thighs. :-)

Try a Cambodian wedding, I shot for 26 hours over 2 days, about 2000 photos. They have about 10 cerimonies with changes of costumes for each. I hope your B&G are happy with your work.

A week from this coming Tuesday :-) It's a party every night until then :-) I'm going to the Neptune's Daughters Ball tomorrow night... hence the need to crash downtown.

Well I never have done a Lutheran wedding, they are thin on the ground round here, but done a few Catholic Nuptial Masses which go on a bit

Much prefer the last Maori couple that got Married on the beach at Otaki,. The Grooms mum was the officiating Minister it was all over in 15 minutes, they raised the Hangi 15 minutes after that and everyone had a wonderfull time, Maori are so great as hosts every one is welcoe and you have a a great time plenty of Kai and the liquids flow like you wouldn't believe.

Oooooh I love Hangi's. We had one for our engagement. It was a near out war when the two men in charge disagreed on the procedure. Both their Kiwi bloods had family traditions to uphold.

I think the Catholic masses tend to be longest for people who aren't Catholic. We have a lot of ritual to work through, true, but others have longer. Like the Lutherans, apparently. I've also heard that Jehovah's Witnesses and Greek or Russian Orthodox are pretty long, but have no firsthand knowledge of either.

My sister's Catholic wedding was relatively short, though - the priest refused her a mass since she was marrying a non-Catholic. Which I thought was silly, but whatever. It was lovely anyway.

The loooooonnnnnnnngest wedding I ever did was a Catholic wedding, where they said Mass in Latin. I honestly had never seen anything like it, almost 3 hours.

I've never shot a Catholic wedding where Mass was given... I haven't done that many Catholic weddings though. I will have to keep that in mind when I am called to shoot more.

I attended a friends wedding who is Indian (the country, not native america) and it was almost 4 hours. and the really bad part is that almost none of it was in english. crystal and I were tryign to look at the program and figure out where they were in the ceremony but we didn't understand anything they were saying. I will say that it was very beautiful though.

I had a friend who married a Hindu girl, and yes the wedding was lo-ong! But the priest read all the prayers in english first , so half the crowd knew what was going on..Made it longer, yes, but it was a beautiful ceremony, so fraught with meaning.

Let's see those pics!!

Try Greek Orthodox! None of the ceremony is in English. My cousin married a greek guy and they now watch everything leading up to the reception in fast forward. During the ceremony they actually started talking to each other and she was looking at her nails. LOL

Edit: i just read the post about the 4 hour indian ceremony - YOU WIN

hehehe... My wife and I got married at our small (non-denominational) church that has very strong Baptist influences. Our wedding was scheduled for 12:00 noon and we were done, walking down the aisle at 12:15!!! It was funny because my boss is Catholic and she showed up while we were doing after wedding photos asking "Where is everybody". We told her it had been over for about 15 minutes and she should go to the reception... She was confused because she said a good Catholic wedding would have been just getting started 30 minutes into it.
