The 8th annual Connecticut Audubon Society Eagle Festival will be held Feb 17-18 in Essex, CT. Each winter bald eagles come to the region from Canada and northern New England to feed on prey found in open waters of the lower Connecticut River. Free activities include land based eagle viewing tours, environmental lectures, live birds of prey programs, art exhibits, childrens programs. Thanks for the reminder. Maybe we'll see you out there. My youngest son is a huge fan of eagles and this would be perfect.

Bump. Wanted to repost to see if anybody might go to this. It is coming up next weekend and if the weather permits, I will probably end up going on Sunday. I won't be taking a boat ride out for close-ups of the eagles. i will just hope that one happens to get close enough to shore to let me get a shot.


A Hawk I think. Wouldn't it be cool if it was an eagle?

I would love to see that, but is it worth be an 8 hour drive... then again?

I got a definite identification. It is a juvenile bald eagle. Guess I don't need to go to the eagle festival now. No, I still plan on going, though we may be under a noreaster that weekend.
